That was a great gift, the only thing is they should have just trailerd it home...that was ok entertainment but unnecessary, and somewhat dangerous for a half hour of video. Anyway, hillbilly would have had to pay many many more dollars for a perfectly good and running Harley Davidson... now he has gotten his signature look all over it and in and out he'll have a much better chance of working on the side of the highway and getting it running again , When it breaks down. 🙃 greatest gift ever is knowledge.

Not too long ago, a Harley owner asked me the following. "What do a farm dog and Harley have in common? Both like to ride on the back of a truck". "What's the difference between a vacuum cleaner and a Harley? The Harley has two dirt bags". That's his personal experience. Hopefully this won't be the case on hillbilly's hog. I wish him continued success on his ride.

Just a couple of notes, watch so the seat bold doesn't run into the rear tire, I would paint the inside of the saddle bags with a medium gray color. It helps to see what you have in the saddle bag when it gets dark.

Blue lock tight would most likely have been better. It allows the parts to be taken back apart if need without a lot of difficulty but still hold the bolts and nuts together securely. A lot of the time using red lock tight I have heard that you have to apply heat to get the parts apart again.

I still remember when HD sold was owned by AMF for a few years and was using pop rivets in the body work. The V twin vibration rather quickly cut the rivets. That era is where the falling apart reputation got its start and the HD guys learned not to sell out to a company that makes bowling alleys.

It's so great to have Hillbillies motorcycle assembled and ready to provide pleasure. Robby and The Boss have given Hillbilly such wonderful support in recent months. Hillbilly's teeth needing so much work and the Layton family picking a dentist to determine the best course of care for him. Then coming up with the gentleman who wanted to donate/give this Harley Davidson Hillbilly. Taking Hillbilly to get the Harley. That was a real b ll buster getting the Harley to Utah. Determining that the engine was trashed and again finding someone that wanted Hillbilly to have an engine that had been sitting in his garage in Vegas. Now the engine installed and Robby painted the motorcycle to a beautiful bright candy red. The Layton's are very generous with their UTube channel monies. In this case the Layton's have helped one of their most dedicated employees. Thanks for the videos of Hillbilly's life changing experiences.

As for the carburetor I would have used the one that came with the engine. I believe it was new and unused. The one from the old engine had been giving him problems. Or I would have found a new carburetor or at the very least I would have got a rebuild kit and gone through the old one to avoid problems.

Kudos to Hillbilly! A big benefit of using Amsoil in your Harley is temperature reduction. In the transmission, it can be as much at 50 degrees farenheit. Besides that, it is engineered for the Harley V-twin. I use Amsoil in everything I own. Even the vacuum cleaner beater bar has Amsoil synthetic, lithium grease. Lithium is the vehicle that holds the oil in suspension for proper lubrication. In my Triumph Speed Triple, a valve adjustment at 34,000 miles showed no wear on any of the associated parts, the spacer discs used to set the clearance had no visible wear marks. Using an Amsoil filter will only keep that oil clean and flowing. Great choice Hillbilly. I wish Robbie would know about the blue Loctite for fasteners that you want to come apart but not vibrate loose. Red can be brutal and actually destroy the threads. Use it particularly for steel bolts threaded into aluminum. Red could cause real issues in this instance.

Hey guys, The paint and engine look great! I was wondering why you didn’t detail the bike with all the parts removed ( engine, tank, fenders and saddle bags etc.) ? It would have been much easier! I believe the bike had 95 or 97 thousand miles on it and this would have been a great time to service ( check, clean, lube, and replace ) wheel bearings, triple tree bearings, swing arm bearings and replace brake pads and brake lines and suspension parts. I always treated my road bikes like an aircraft and never skimped on maintenance or replacement parts. If a part failed you might not be coming home again! Enjoy your bike and ride safe and always watch out for cagers! As always stay safe and healthy! Ron
