BRUTAL Lancer Evo III || 550+Hp ONBOARD On The Limit !!!

A bit of a "Blast from the Past", here we have Slovakian ace Jozef Beres Jr. driving the Lancer Evo III of L Racing. Built after the Jozef had crashed with the Subaru Impreza WRC he was competing before, this Monster dubbed Evo 39 was built in almost record time and competed between 2014 and 2015. A bit of a crude instrument, it required quite the driving style to make the most of its 550+Hp
And that´s exactly what Jozef brought to the table as we can see here on Jankov Vrsok Hillclimb where he absolutely drove this Monster at ten/tenths. Proof that sometimes less technology and a lot of power might make for a less efficent machine, but a way more spectacular one... Up to to you to decide which you prefer...

Monster car and monster driver! It looks like he's inducing oversteer in some corners by doing light left foot braking to shift the weight. Superb driving! 👏

MR_ JZ_12 2:50 and 3:15 looked like he was purposely getting it to slide with weight transferring, à la scandi flick. Short taps of the brakes and sometimes lightly steering the wheel the other way to shift the weight around. There were some tighter turns that it seemed like he could take faster with a little bit of oversteer, 0:33 for example. Like he’s trying to actively fight the understeer. I could be wrong though, I’m not a monster driver after all 🤷🏻‍♂️

the answer to that is : Active yaw control ( AYC ) that Mitsubishi uses a system that distributes torque into the wheels depending on which direction the steering wheel is looking . All he needs to do is point the turn and step on the gas , the rest are happening automatically in miliseconds

George Isaak AYC got introduced in the Evo IV though, then the S-AWC some time in the mid 00s. Though I guess it’s not a stretch to fit that tech into an older monster Evo III

@@georgeisaak5321 Evo3 didn't have the AYC,was the later evo's and it was rubbish couldn't handle any good power so people would swap the rear diff for the rs diff....this driver has pure skills 👍

@@HillClimbMonsters He did for a while. With Ford Escort, but he bought it as a drag car and that car never really worked properly. I have no idea if he still owns it, but he is not competing in hillclimb anymore. I am not sure if he does rally currently. I have not heard about him for a while. Meanwhile, another driver totalled that prototype 2 years ago, so there are no prototypes in the championship anymore.

So best I can gather is this is a probably stock bottom end 4G63 (the bottom end is allegedly good for 600hp without major modifications), with probably a dry sump. The transmission appears to be a homologated Group A 6-speed sequential with plated LSDs front and centre, and more than likely one in the rear. Most likely they are adjustable, front is set to mild lock, rear to mid lock and centre locks aggressively under throttle. Best I can tell the biggest factor is the weight, by eye it looks as if it weighs around a metric tonne complete with driver.

I'm an Evo 3 conversion owner. In my country the real Evo 3 is very rare, and even if they exists, it's gonna be super expensive in comparison from another countries, and I don't think I can afford one😅. This car became legend on many rally events in the 90's and made famous by Jackie Chan's movie "Thunderbolt".
