Dude, we don't need you to pick up a fight with Craig. You're both remarkable athletes in separate branches of crossfit, and you make content on the sport of crossfit that is sorely lacking from Crossfit Hq. There's plenty of room for both, so don't make this into a pissing contest that nobody asked for

Everyone who hates on crossfit are often salty cause its hard, and they aren't fit enough to do it. It's easier to say it's "unsafe" as a cop out. Every form of fitness has its risks. Dude breaks an ankle deadlifting and he is mocking crossfit movements...

So with the recent comments from greg glassman on the sevan podcast Craig is going to be moving more and more away from the crossfit stuff. If you were to ask him now he is no longer a crossfit athlete. He has made that known for sometime. He still does a lot of content for the crossfit community cause that is where majority of his friends are at. However, I think that you could say you are the crossfit athlete in the crossfit realm and he is the weightlifter in the crossfit realm. If that makes sense. Also if Dani did a collab does that mean she is signed? Couldn't they have just paid her for a 1 off? Kind of liike travis scott and nike? he isn't a signed athlete but they just paid for branding rights.

The goofy stuff is the core of Crossfit's identity. Cutting that out would make it something different. What Tanner needs to do is start his own rule set competition. They do this is professional grappling and MMA all the time. Most of those promotions all have different rule sets. Essentially go start his own planet but with blackjack and hookers.

Unpopular opinion? Tanner's right about all the kipping bull$**t. CrossFit should go clean. No kipping at all. Humongous gains have been left on the table, and it has contributed to the rep that CrossFit is dangerous. Greg's old article defending kipping pull ups is sloppy and uncompelling. In fact, Greg was in the comment section on mainsite in 2020 before he sold answering the question, What would you do differently? He said that he'd de-emphasize kipping.

If you look at old Games, '08 '09, 10 era more athletes move more strict. Fast forward to now and those amazing wod times by the elites are achieved by the increased athleticism they can display, not only from the ability to kip huge sets of gymnastics movement but by improvement in raw strength and work capacity. Crossfit is about work completed in measured time domains. So kipping definitely has a place. In fact, removing kipping would place a glass ceiling on the athletes and limit athletic advancement.
@ClockCutter3 күн бұрын
@@ajpower5341 Those amazing wod times are achieved by manipulating momentum. Kipping, even the butterfly sort, is just not that important of an "athletic" movement. If all CrossFitters, from top to bottom, from say 2010, stopped kipping and did everything strict, they'd all be, from top to bottom, markedly stronger than they are now. More, they'd have a markedly improved strength endurance, or stamina. Male Games athletes would likely be pumping out sets of 20 strict pull ups one after another in very impressive fashion. You're giving up significantly greater strength and conditioning gains for a pretty useless "athletic" movement. Why? Greg himself would likely abandon all the kipping.
@gregolsen81232 күн бұрын
I agree kipping pull-ups are terrible for the people who can’t do a single standard pull-up. Once people can do pull-ups strict, I’m all for kipping after. That being said I personally don’t do kipping pull-ups
