Outstanding Guys .....I'm notorious for wearing out gear in a season or two because of all the trail miles and field time.... I've had some of your gear for going on 7 seasons and it looks almost new....just killed a competitor pack last fall .....I'm thinking this fits the ticket.

Outstanding! I was just thinking about getting an ALICE frame and pack shelf (even though I hate the frame itself). This blows that away! Just went to the top of my list of things I need!

Well, I've never seen a pack so versatile before. Can't wait to see what else you have instore.

Reminds me of the Mystery Ranch Crewcab I have had for about a decade, but better. I've found the attached/non-removeable front pocket on the Crewcab to be pretty useless. Anytime I pack the main cargo area full and cinch it, that front portion becomes worthless for anything but maps, yet it's heavier and bulkier than a simple catch panel would be due to the zippers and compartments. It just doesn't expand. The inability to remove the side tubular pockets also has annoyed me over the years, because you can only put certain shaped objects in them. I like this concept much better. Swapping "pockets" for what you need at the time. The "ultralight" option is pretty damn appealing. Does it come in black, though?

My AHBC makes me forget I have 35 lbs on for the first two miles. So much better harness than the traditional two strap ones. Love HPG!

This could be the pack I have been waiting for. Been saving for either a Ute or Qui ya for 4 season Canadian backcountry before a sled can be employed. This looks to be a major contender. Will the Decker pocket be able to be worn as a stand alone pack like the tara and pals pocket? Also where did you sources that centre zip sustainment duffle bag? Nate
@HillPeopleGear5 жыл бұрын
No, the Decker Pocket is too large to be a stand alone pack. It needs the real suspension of the Decker Frame. The silnylon duffle / pack bag is a prototype. I was pretty happy with it, so I think we'll probably put it into production.

Used the pack to haul 50-lb feed bags (almost 5 miles of walking) and it worked great. I couldn't get two in the pack, but it was stable enough that I could carry a second in my arms. First pack I've had that makes these claims, but it seems to do the job. That said, I haven't used it a lot so durability is a TBD for me.

My Wife said to pick out what I want because she's tired of hearing about it and I'm getting the Decker for Christmas. This is my first order from HPG aside from our kit bags and I'm wondering if the Decker includes shoulder straps and hip belt? I only ask because I had seen where you don't make people buy a second suspension system in order to purchase a new bag. If a hip belt is included, which one is it?
@HillPeopleGear2 жыл бұрын
The Decker needs a Prairie Belt in your size. Everything else is included. We should have coyote and ranger both back in stock before Christmas. Right now it is only manatee we have.

If you weren't looking to carry meat or another big / awkward load, could you use the Decker pocket in conjunction with something like the Connor? I'm not seeing why not, but well, I miss a lot of things too :).
@HillPeopleGear5 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the limitation there is that the side release buckles on the Decker Frame bottom out at 3-4" of depth. So with the Connor, you at least need that much "stuff" between Connor and Decker Frame for a tight load. The Capture Flap could be used to tighten it up against the frame. An example would be the "day" load in the video where instead of the Connor it's the Tarahumara (same difference) but there is a 25L dry sack with some stuff in it. Another option is to hang the Connor from the top Grimlocs right against the frame and then use the center panel that comes with the Decker Frame to compress it all down. You could use that method with just about any one of our packs and many others. I don't think of it as very optimal.The Decker Pocket, on the other hand, was designed to be able to cinch absolutely tight to the Decker Frame because the side strap take offs are in the center of it instead of on the sides. Size-wise, I think it's about a 2800ci / 45L pocket.

Any plans to make the Decker Pocket into a pack? I really like the layout a bit more than the Umlindi, and am looking for a new day bag.

Not exactly, but not far off. No timeline at this point, but I can tell you I've already got the patterning done.

I now have the pack frame and am looking into duffle style bags to carry in it. Where did you get the one you are using in this video?
@HillPeopleGear2 жыл бұрын
Made it. Sea to Summit has some nice dry bags that would be applicable.

what's the weight of just the pack frame (with straps/buckles but without any belt)?
@HillPeopleGear Жыл бұрын
5lb. It's not the lightest option in our lineup. That modularity comes at a weight penalty. If you're concerned about weight and want to pack out boned out meat, you should go for the Ute or qui-Ya. If you want a lighter weight pack simply for backpacking, you want the qui-Ya light or soon to be released Ute light. Thanks.
