Successful fix of a classic Hills Hoist! Mechanism not working. Fixed with spare metal parts and some grease.

Nice one Mike. They all seem to perish in the same spot and I you can't buy just the conical washer anywhere. Hills only sell the entire top post and full replacement parts kit. 80 cent 5 mm washer and did the same as you. Good on you for posting the video

Hi there Mike. Thanks heaps for posting this vid. I have the exact same problem with my old Hills hoist which seems to be the same model as yours. The original base cap seems to have been welded on to prevent the lifting off of the top of the clothes line but you have replaced it with a loose type washer set up. I will try this method and report the result.
