Listening to this guy speak it sounds like he was never gonna survive Hillsong structure. He's built different and he's bound to build different and that automatically means he'll clash with the global structure of Hillsong. I've had my own questions about their style of church planting and this Phoenix situation sheds light on that.

I actually think he is genuinely caring for his people - I don’t personally go to church but yep there is something I trust about this pastor

My jaw dropped when he said they had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Ok 👌🏾 "Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Worse than many companies! When you leave a company to work for a competitor, most of the time they are not even that eager or greedy! My jaw now dropped as well, this is sick! Where is Jesus in all this? What would Jesus do? What does He think about all this?!😱🙏🏽 #jesus

What I can't understand is why the pastor never checked out their worldly conferences and easter and christmas productions, naked cowboys cabaret style 'silent nights' etc. etc. And Houstons preaching God and Allah are the same.Why is he stepping away from hillsongs so late in the day, he probably shouldn't of teamed up with them in the first place.

Great question. I go to this church and have for 10 years (back when it was city of grace before Hillsong came about). I think they really thought they made the right choice joining Hillsong. It did lead to some great things like the colour conference where women around the world meet and pray (I've been and it was life changing). However, somewhere along the way few in leadership were swayed by the devil. Pastor Terry has criticized this from the moment he found out. I believe he was threatens with the church he and his wife built over 30 years. Little fact here all 6 churches the crista own, once merged with Hillsong technically belong partially to them. Now that pastor Christ refused to sign an NDA and publicly spoke in support of any victims for weeks ... They threatened him with non compete and tried to control him. I'm proud of pastor Terry for standing up to the mega church. I pray for my church home.

Don't feel bad , pastor Terry it just confirms what Jesus said we are not perfect but saved only thru the Blood of Our PreciousJesus this is when we begin to fall when we forget we are sinners all of us ,saved by grace .there is not one pastor saved by his work s lest any and I mean saved thruwho you are but who's you are.God Bless You

If I was in your place I would try to check out your new church. I saw this scandal coming long time ago personally, no one cared my “opinion” of course, I left ages ago. I have greater friends and accountability in the secular world than ever in any churches… sad but true, people must have honest heart and mind before anything. When the motivation is wrong, people feel it naturally. Some admit some ignores it for the sake to build something.. but for who? If it doesn’t agree with God, it means nothing. At least the way I see it. Thanks for posting and being honest. It’s the best start. Wishing you the best, and if you need help, please be brave to talk to someone who has the knowledge and skills in the future. It’s ok!

Hopefully you got another church that you feel comfortable in 🙂. Like Pastor Terry said in this video (I'll paraphrase) ... "when such things or scandals happen, as the body of Christ or individual members, lets not get hungery with the church." The good thing is Jesus Christ is the Head of the church.. and He has no sin in Him. He can be trusted with our lives. Have a great day my dear.

@@freedomfromfear6570 just because we are not attending church it doesn’t mean, we live according to the secular world. We hold the value of the Bible and live it out by action and faith. God keeps us by His wisdom of Words inside and leads us not the church or the pastor. It is our inner responsibility and through relationships based on the knowledge it comes through the Bible will always shine in the world no matter where we are. I’ve got few Christian friends but many who are not and I must say the value and their actions in life is more biblical then most church people I have encountered. We live in the secular world but it doesn’t mean, we live accordingly. We should shine, stay faithful to the Word of God. If people can’t be like that in the church I shouldn’t be in it. I haven’t seen a church just yet who really teaches the deep wisdom, most of them are the same or encouraging.. but if I went to study ancient Hebrew to dig in and get the understanding the culture of the Biblical times just to get the concept of the Bible unlike preachers and pastors, to me it’s meaningless to sit another 20 years to listen to things I already heard million times. Leaders should do serious studies to teach… then the church will shine again. Unfortunately people can teach whatever they feel because the spirit.. but we haven’t even touched the real meaning of the Bible.. it’s all on the surface. No wonder why we’ve got so many problems. People should meditate deeply but they have nothing to think about… without the culture and the original language, no real study behind it’s not the Eternal universe and all knowledge of God reveals. People should be amazed every time after the preaching and go home to study more of the Bible. It’s not happening. Sorry. Until I am accountable in my heart and do what God me called me to do, moving forward and repent daily, and aiming for His Glory I have inner peace not because a pastor confirmed me but because God keeps me in His Hands. Am I perfect? No. Am I a sinner? Yes, of course. But every day I lift my eyes and mind and heart to Him. Hopefully He sees I am a human who is trying and not blaming the evil, but herself and take responsibility. But most importantly love Him as He is the Name above all names. And He is Good, I know. I am wishing shining future to your church, hope we will see you shining:) !

Of course I am not saying this is all wrong, I knew pastor Gary and Katy in person when I served there for several years, long time ago and I think they tried and did good work..I met people who had pure heart and mind and we were able to help people, which was a Godly call, indeed. But two things I disagreed in the core teaching, what you want from God ask and He gives it to you… this should be opposite, what He wants to me and there is my call and therefore my real happiness in life, also if I give I get rich, well that is just so wrong motive from the beginning.. it’s not true and we should not think that way anyway. I went to some Temple where a Rabbi was teaching and they held service there on Saturday. They didn’t change a thing because I was new, I had to gain understanding and shape myself to them not the other way around. We had a round table talk after service, and talked about the Bible like never before. It was lovely. I think we so worry about how people think, when they come to church how they are going to feel, we changed things according to them. But even Jesus did not talked to people who did not know the Bible because He knew they would not understand who He was as a Saviour. Of course then it changed but I think we need to go back to our roots to get the understanding of what we believe truly. Jesus was so challenging even in His time to people who knew the Word of God. Amazing how great He was. Now we translate the Holy Bible worrying that people would not get it? If we want to know something in the secular world, we need to study. That’s it. Hillsong updated the Holy Bible.. the Bible says, if you change it you do sin. Because every letter has a meaning in it. It’s a perfect Holy order in everything in there. I think Hillsong became secular in their teaching and that is reflected on their behaviour. Bible is the most difficult Book in the whole universe. We should not take it lightly. It’s hard, it’s complex and we need real study and teaching about it. Then we will stand firm. Not by law but by real wisdom and love, but even when we realise how good is the law by protecting us, that’s were we start to understand a little bit God and His good Work for us… anyway that is the way I see it until today. Of course I am always open to different opinions and thoughts. I thing having real conversations is vital with the right heart and respect. Have a lovely day. x

Dude is separating to save his business, simple as that. He didn't want to sign the nda... good on him. But the REAL reason was the 1yr non compete. He's a professional pastor. That would kill his job without being able to relaunch his "business" for a year. All the rest of what he's saying is saving face and narrative.

I go to this church and I can say that there is a lot more to it than that. When the information about pastor Brian came out, pastor Crist was very transparent. He has for weeks now condemned these actions and called for accountability. It's been a month of sermons that were hard and transparent leading up to this one. Also, the thing not mentioned here is that this church along with all 6 locations that this pastor built himself belong to him and his wife. They began serving God over 30 years ago with a small gathering in their living room. The Phoenix, Scottsdale and Mesa campus were city of grace a decade ago. All built on the preaching of pastor Terry and his wife. Just the fact that Hillsong would try to take the church they built, and not allow them to preach the word of God says more about Hillsong than it does pastor Christ. The NDA was sugar on top of the cake. Pastor Terry is a very good man. I know him and Judith personally. He calls things out when something's not right. God is doing a shaking, he will not be mocked!!!! Too much preaching that is NOT biblical, prosperity preaching is not of God!!! Men that use the church to line their own pockets, makes me sick!!! Preachers that don’t preach the truth!, There is only one way to God and that’s Jesus Christ !!! Same sex relationships are wrong, sex out of marriage is wrong!, Jesus said REPENT turn from your sin!!!! Let’s start preaching the truth not what the itching ears want to hear!!!!! Let’s make church a holy place, and take the world out of it!!!!! What’s light got to do with darkness, let’s worship in the light not like we are in a night club!!!! It breaks my heart seeing the down fall of Hillsong, I saw an interview with Carl and Oprah, I was so mad as he didn’t stand up for righteousness and always wondered why Brian Houston allowed this!!!! What is the reason for that music? At this point where credibility is critical is it necessary to spice up a serious message like this with musical garnish? Were Christ or the Apostles accompanied by a band wherever they went, spicing up their message? This is Hollywood and serious Christian worshippers don’t need sound effects.

Thank goodness you are out of Hillsong Church. She left 10 years ago. She saw what Brian was up to. Asking for money through their connect group over and above what you would put into. It was $600d a month then he would go overseas. To me this is wrong. You give to church what you can. My goodness I go to a Baptist Church, and she went to an Anglican Church here in Australia. I love mine and she loves hers. This is not the Christian way of doing things. Brian Houston is in a lot of trouble. He should be behind bars for 30 years.

“Got big, so many people” and thats when they lost track of what really matters. Some got allured by the flashlights, or “leadership goals” and got greedy with seeking approval of men. Constantly approval of men rather than just loving people and taking personal time to rest and take cafe of yourself as well. It felt like being in a prison, it went too far, this had to stop. God will rebuild His church in His terms not of fancy “Global leaders”. 🙏🏽💞

Just like the “Social Justice “ churches, Christian love and justice puts no group over another. That ain’t justice. I’ll stick with Jesus. He loved all, the zealots, the tax collectors ( that would never associate with each other) naturally. Accept Jesus as your master and savior, seek his ways not your ways, his rules not societal rules and you will be justice.
