I really like this kind of video. Small towns and their history. You don't see that much these days. Great job.

Just missed y'all! My wife and I were staying on Orchard Gap and visited Meadows of Dan, VA, Mount Airy, NC, and Hillsville. The Hillmont Mercantile was quaint and I sat in a rocking chair waitin' for the wife who was in an antique store...with her new cowgirl hat that looks just like the one you said Melody took from ya🤠

We just found your channel and are enjoying it. We have a cabin just down the road near Fancy Gap, so had to watch this one and the Galax ones first. We love the area and usually catch one or both flea markets and go to the Rex and downtown Galax. Its interesting to learn about other towns and places that are within a days drive.

It's been a while since I've been to the Hillsville Flea Market, but I hope to get to go next year. We always enjoyed parking in someone's yard and staying overnight in our vehicle so we could get up bright and early to shop shop shop. Hillsville is such a neat town; I would love to go there sometime and spend a day or two just enjoying the beauty. Thanks for bringing back some memories of my many trips there and rekindling my interest in returning!

Catching up on y'alls videos! Really enjoyed this! We stopped at B&P Drive-in many times on our way to Winston-Salem. We always went that way to races at Bowman-Gray Stadium. We nicknamed it "the burp & puke"! LOL! Been that route many times. If you'd turned left at Hardee's that's the way we went. I remember my dad telling us about the shooting when I was pretty young. My parents loved to go to the large veggie & fruit place in the big white bldg just past the Allen House. We loved going into Cana too to the old flea market & fruit/veggie stands. Brought back some good memories. Museum was awesome. Hate showing my age but a lot of the household stuff looked familiar! Y'all stay safe & thanks for sharing these memorable places!

Miss 221 and working in Mt Airy in textiles. Back when papa was running shine and working at Radford arsenal, Franklin Co wasn't the shine capital. My clan married into the Allen clan or vice versa. I still have the original book (if you wanna call it that) about the courthouse shootout. Miss the yearly bluegrass festival too at the vfw were the flea market is held every year

The Sidna Allen house is being renovated and I think just opened to the public labor day weekend. There are several books on the shooting, going to read one of them eventually. I know somebody here in NC that is from the Allen family. After that deal, some of the descendants had to move and change their last name.

Hell as a young Marine swooping home to Ohio. On weekends from camp lejune n c. I would stop in hills ville to buy gas. 29cents a gal. In 1973. I was driving my 1969 mustang just as fast as I could. To get home. Stopped one day for a hair cut. Old barber shop. Had a pic about the killings. And I was told the story.
