Well look at it this way, they were originally NPC's in yggdrasil that did nothing but stand guard and attack any non-guild members on site. Nothing else. There was no personality and only flavor text to them. So this is their baseline. That is then affected by flavor text and gaps are filled in with their creator's personality.

If I remember correctly. Ramposa actually wanted to let Zanac be king but they couldn't find the timing to do it because if Zanac were to take the throne in the wrong manner it would cause a split between the royalist and the noble faction. Ramposa decision to give up his head was actually well thought. It would let Zanac take the throne with very little friction. I remember Zanac being really impressed with his father's resolve.

I've seen a theory somewhere and it's been in my mind ever since. Maybe in reality Ainz has been subconsciously smart this whole time, but his own conscious doesn't realize that. Like his own thought push him to do/say this without himself knowing why he said that, but in reality it's his subconscious doing the work.

I mean that could make a lot a sense. If we look at his character class and race he’s an overlord the strongest and wisest of the undead races, Along with the fact that he’s a necromancer with essentially maxed out intelligence given the fact that I believe, and I may be wrong don’t quote me on this, he knows more spells than any other player. So it could be very likely that he is super intelligent subconsciously like mentioned, it’s just that his real life personality is overriding his subconscious.

And we have seen that npc is capable of thinking on their own and act outside of Ainz's words so it's unlikely that then npc just go long with what Ainz's said as fact 100% of the time if all Ainz said is random bullshit.

Yeah I thought Hilma’s reaction to Ainz’s mercy kind of came across as simping, rather than her being overjoyed to know that there is hope for the Eight Fingers members if they subordinate themselves under Ainz directly. Which in the novels kind of felt like she was admiring Ainz as some merciful god that saved her from hell.

You know something ironic is that When Ainz was giving the speech of a boss blaming a subordinate the fault of a mistake, his superior was the one who takes the most responsibllity for said mistake? Ramposa was doing the exact same example of this and was offering his head in exchanges from his noble subordinate who cause all this. I think Ainz could take some respect of this gesture of a good boss.

There is a problem when anime try to fill in every bit of the sourse material it can start to stall the progression if not done carefully, we love the anime or we wouldnt be here but 5 episodes of dialoug is cool and all but it dont mean its going to be enjoyable to watch, its alot easier to read a large volume at your own pace then watch a large volume at the pace they tell you to. Thisnis the first anime iv ever oicked up the LN for so i will gladly fill 8n those blanks my self because it intrests me but i will be the first to admit some other popular anime i like after 2 or 3 season began to be so full of filler episodes i was literally skipping 5,10, 15 mins of them just to get the just before the season finale got interesting again

Grimgar did exactly this and majority of viewers (that werent LN readers) complained it was slow and boring. Its hard to convert reading material to viewing material because the pacings are completely different. 10 pages of a book could translate to only 30 seconds of screen time. I think we can all agree the pacing of Overlord is on point and does not need changing. If you think the pacing is too fast then your complaint is valid and perhaps a slower pacing suits your taste. If not then there shouldnt be any change since for the anime only watchers they are having a blast which is exactly what we want to encourage more anime sequels in the future.

I didn't really take it from the Anime that Hilma was romantically inclined toward Ainz. I think that since she's an underworld leader and a woman who's been subservient to others all her life, she's never been shown mercy or rationality from her superiors before and it was so relieving it was cathartic to her and at the same time it showed her what working for or being part of an organization with intelligent and charismatic leadership can be like. She went there fully expecting to be horrifically tortured again, but instead the absolute head boss of the group--a person her direct superiors all consider to be God, let her off with the smallest of reprimands and no pain. That was life changing for her.

from what i could tell what was sent was not a declaration of war but more of an announcement that due to the attack war was likely should the kingdom not do something to placate nazarick. this can sort of be proved by the fact that after the conversation of the kingdom discussing the letter that albedo had shown up for a meeting with the king where the king offered his own head in return for continued peaceful relations.

The Reason they couldn't revive Gazef is because of #1 Gazef does not want to be brought back #2 The spell Ainz used True Death. This can only be overwritten with the same tier or above of resurrection magic. True Death is a 9th Tier Magic Spell

As I recall, Ainz did inflict True Death on Gazef, which means low-level resurrection spells wouldn't work to bring Gazef back to life. Plus Gazef did tell Ainz that he didn't want to be restored after their duel. Either way, Lakyus wouldn't be able to revive Gazef and I doubt even the Holy Roble Empire resurrection spells would work.

Knowing a bit about history, and having played strategy games like Crusader Kings, I immediately thought Albedo and Demiurge would be happy with what Phillip did, because it played into their hands. This very similar what happened with the Empire sending in workers, which was Demi's plan. They just didn't have to scheme for it. An act of aggression by a vassal, let a rumour spread with merchants about the incident to all neighbouring countries, blame the King for not reigning him in, threaten war, in negotiations demand Phillip's land or part of it and finally, when you have it, have one of the nobles bring up: if the king cedes land and doesn't protect his vassals as is his duty, why is there a king? Jircniv even did what the prince suggested. Blame the noble give Ainz his head. Demi should/could have thought of this from the start. That the Kingdom suspects Ainz deliberately schemed for this is not unwarranted. Previously they didn't show all that well that Phillip was stupid. But his conversation with the other 2 nobles did. I had many red flags pop up immediately, of which I suspect the writer knows the implications of. Not listening to peasants what can grow and wanting to make cash crops to sell is usually the mark of a tyrant. He will get rich, but everybody else won't. You will be heavily dependent on outside forces strong-arming yourself, you'd need to buy food and actually sell your cash crops for it. You can't do that as a faction leader. You need that independence or a very reliable trade partner. There will be a high risk transition period. Where there could be no food or money. It's labor intensive, there is a reason colonial powers used slaves for it, especially the Spanish and Portuguese. Harder to innovate, because it's just extracting resources without making an end product, creating stagnation. No need for education with just hard labor. With a labor shortage it's doomed to fail. He would cause a famine in his domain. Or/and have a revolution on his hand. On top of that attacking a Kingdom which subjugated the Empire stronger than the his own entire Kingdom he is a part of, not expecting the destruction/invasion of his own domain as retaliation at the very least. Ainz having undead work the fields could also cause problems btw. Right now it's fine because there is such a labor shortage, but replacing them for decades is going to cause problems. It's like automation taking away jobs.

I admit, I watched the s4 fan-subbed from a local website (I don't support piracy, but Crunchyroll isn't available in my country). Fortunately, the translation did simply refer them as "holy kingdom" not "theocracy", despite the fact that they didn't explicitly mentioned Holy Roble Kingdom. *edit: in the fan-sub, they also refer the name of their operation as "Whip and Candy"

I knew the Theocracy is going to be in more direct conflict with ainz though with the Kingdom conflict, so I did think it odd they were suddenly on good terms. If it was the Theocracy seal on the war document the Kingdom should 've immediately given in or subjugated themselves to the dragon Council state. Also Gazef was killed by Ainz using a spell that made revival impossible. This was in the anime. Lakyus was probably just unable.

Is it true that there will be a movie covering Vol 12, 13 - the Holy Kingdom (not Theocracy)? 3:00 i got confused too why in hell Ainz sending food to Theocracy... there was no fxxxing with them yet. SO yeah... just replace "Theocracy" with Holy Kingdom.

I've honestly never religiously watched an anime like I do with overlord before. I hide my shame to everyone that I like anime, however I just casually watch it and if I don't finish one, I'm just meh and move on. Overlord has been the first one where I literally can't get enough. The character development, world building, and details are outstanding.
