The CGI deathknight was fine. It was definitely better than the CGI goblins. Those deathknights were definitely the protags of this season, despite them being killed to show how the new worlders could cope with them.

as an "anime-only" i missed the whole covert war part. I had assumed when they started talking about all the towns they've destroyed that that was just the D-DAY "shock and awe" blitzkrieg and we just joined the general staff meeting reviewing the opening day or something. Deadass hands down best episode of the whole season and probably the whole show imo. Was excited to see Negredo. Was excited to see the Frozen Prison from the outside and a piece of the Fifth Floor, because it make Nazarick feel much more alive. Loved Albedo's part in the beginning, especially the return of the utter dread noises accompanying her mask breaking momentarily when she asked the noble if he wanted to die early. Loved the actual animation for most of the characters it felt like more frames and higher fidelity. I loved the CGI, best in the whole series to date. I loved the battle with the adventurers at the end as we actually feel a little tension at the possibility of them beating the lone death knight (despite how meaningless a victory that would be, you kinda completely forget the larger picture in the moment during the scene). Awesome episode. I hope the remaining episodes keep up the quality and suspence.

I do think the CG has improved, I also think they use it well on the undead, it makes them "off" which feels right for twenty foot tall undead monsters.

The mommy milker got me, I was waiting to see how they would treat her in the anime, or just censor her remarks. They made her more "eccentric" than I thought of her in the light novel from what I remember, also probably helps they excluded her comment where she said she should have considered races that don't age, so only she would get older and that would be acceptable to her. The red armor dude I must have missed that, I didn't recall the gun, I thought it said he fired red arrows of light ... no clue how I messed that up. They also cut the comment about maybe undead marching in from the sea behind the walls, honestly would have been amazing to see that happens. Never crossed my mind, just undead on mass coming from under the water line using their walls against them.

Ah the reason why you dont recall is, is because red drops introduction was done from the perspective of 4 armaments. The "red arrows of light" are supposed to be the description of tracer rounds i think? So its fair that you might not have caught it at first.

The anime is based on the light novels, and I'm kind of bummed at some of the scenes the anime cut out from the novel, like in the Dwarf arc there was a scene where Ainz commissioned the Dwarven Forgemaster to craft a set armor for one of his Lizardmen using level 45 metal from Ygdrasil, but the Forgemaster ran off with the metal because he couldn't even melt it in order to mold it into armor, so Council had to promise Ainz 3 sets of Enchanted Adamantite armor as compensation for what the Forgemaster did, and it would have been cool to see the finished crafted armor in the anime. But I kind of understand why it was cut from the anime because as far as I know the finished armor was never illustrated in the light novel, so whatever the animators drew wouldn't have been canon anyway.

Nigredo is also one of the few NPCs aside from the Floor Guardians, that are very high in Level . I believe over Lvl. 90 not as much as a Floor Guardian but almost reaching their lvl.

Fire Ball and a fricking 3D Gundam! Most likely all of Overlord 4 budget went into eps 9-13, animation really went up a notch, story is finally on a normal pace were now getting some proper world building details and damn Nigredo is adorable. I simply loved Ainz going all according to the plan and everyone going sasugase after the Death Knight and Death Warrior got killed by Red Drop. It’s a good episode!

I would like to mention that the things you talked about is referenced in the teasers. I find that in the teasers there will be additional information for example teaser for episode 8 mention the Holy Kingdom. While episode 9 teaser mentions albedo turning the nobles , demiurge doing information control and they are currently annihilating the cities and towns one by one as you said in the video.

Did you know that there is a 3rd sister? We know Albedo and Nigredo, but the third sister is actually mentioned here and there. She is an area guardian as is Nigredo, but her area is full of sakura trees. She has one ability and that is to keep all of the gates between floors working. Remember back in season 3 when the workers invaded the tomb, some would step on a teleport trap and end up in the colosseum or in Kohoko's cockroach room. Rubedo is her name and teleportation is her game. She is also the strongest close combat NPC. Only Victim can kill her.

Been watching _(anime only)_ from the start, and honestly without that investment likely would have quit this season. So... I haven't been enjoying Overlord this season: Little authenticity/depth and growth of characters; story devolves into a chat show way too OFTEN; animation/artwork is just OK. This LN reader infused so much AFTER THE FACT VALUE, sharing plot points and character inner thinking/motivations... how often do you appreciate an EP, not for what it is, but for the underlying material all without reading the LN? As a fellow LN reader, this episode is the best so far in S4 seeing that minimum content was cutout. Though it would’ve been funny if they did include those experimental sieges like Shalltear commanding the Frost Dragons to drop undead horses (Souleaters) on one of the villages where some of those horses crash and gets stuck in the houses. And then the other floor guardians would critic each other’s plan and results.
