Absolutely stunning. The wildflowers were gorgeous. I’ve been to so many places this year, but there is just something very special about the Sierra. Beautifully, shot.

I just got a permit for an overnight hike here. Which lake would you recommend I camp at? This will be the first weekend of October. Unfortunately, I think the fall color will have peaked here by then.

Catherine Gregory I recommend Davis Lake...very beautiful. Yes it’s time to get up to the Sierras now for the fall color - it’s early this year!

Great scenery. Unfortunately, at the time this got published, there has been fires on the west side of the Sierras. This has affected most of the trails on the east side. It is all smokey and with very low visibility. You just mist it with your filming. Thanks for showing us this great beauty. See you on your next video.

Just gotta love those high mountain lakes. Do you ever fish? I always did as I really enjoyed trying to find the elusive Golden Trout. I only ate introduced species that took up the niche of native trout, still do here in New Mexico. Really nice photography, the flowers in the beginning were really nice. The little creeks just looked really cool.

Another good effort, man. Keep up the good work. BTW, what hat are you wearing in the earlier parts of your vid? Looks like a Tilley.

David Bock thanks!! The wide brim hat is a Sunday from REI, and the regular black hat is by Illustrate.

Wonderful video. We used to take our Mammoth Lakes Boy Scout troop on that trail and shuttle cars to make it a one day trip. Was this taken this year and in August? I think this must have been much earlier, like early July given the wildflower bloom and the clear air. The air in Mammoth has finally begun to clear at times in the last couple of days. We got a brief (30-45 minute) shower today, with mostly cloud to cloud lightning so hopefully we didn't get any new fire starts. The Furgeson and Lion Fires are putting out less smoke. One comment, based on a lot of experience as someone who worked in recreation and wilderness management for over 20 years is that bag hanging job you did was not done even close to correctly. If you left the bag on the ground it would have been just as effective at protecting the bear from your food as what you did. Get the specifications for counterbalancing and follow the specifications exactly, you can't compromise on anything such as distances, limb size and such. I used to backpack on the job and have had bears try to get my properly counterbalanced, sometimes for hours, while I observed them and saw how each and every component of the counterbalance method must be followed exactly, or they will get your food. Starting in the mid 90's I've used a canister on every trip as the counterbalance method, even when done to specification can be defeated by some bears. We began to use the phrase "protect bears from our food," instead of the other way around, because we are harming the bear population when they get human food. I had to work on that issue for many years in the eastern Sierra, both up at Bridgeport and then down in Mammoth Lakes. Signed, "A Retired Ranger."
