Bad advice for getting the car back into full auto mode from manual shift. You should never free wheel a car in neutral whilst it's moving - that's bad. What you do is pull back on the right hand (upshift) paddle and hold it back for two to three seconds - that puts the car back into fully automatic.

In South Africa, all XF's came standard with folding mirrors - it was a spec requirement by Jaguar SA. But overseas, I think only Premium Luxury and up got the folding mirror options. The luxury was the bottom tier model one could buy and the only thing missing was the backup camera and a lesser sound system.

Buzz 0712 Hi-Ya Hilton, Learn't more about my XF in the past 30 minutes viewing your video than since I bought it 8 months ago. Brilliant useful information not always contained in the manual, When I first bought the XF it had some wonderful coloured lights in the door panels and dash board but now have been lost (I still have the door entry lights) Will the hidden colour menu you show in part 3 reinstate these or do you think it may be a bad relay?
@carfanfan5 жыл бұрын
Hey John, you probably have a bad fuse. Check the fuse layout in the manual to see which fuse in your car controls ambient lighting and then check the fuse itself. The ambient lights don't work on a relay because relay is a mini computer module which controls several functions through the canbus whereas something as simple as ambient lighting is just bridged by a fuse in the electrical circuit. Good luck I hope this info helps.

Yep, been down that road so many times due to our bad roads. This is why I sold my XFR. Jaguar OEM wheels are just soft by nature and buckle easily. Even going slowly over a small speed bump or curb will buckle them due to the low profile of the tire. I'll never get a Jag again with 20" wheels. 17" would be what I'd go for to ensure no more buckled wheels and wobbly drives.

If I may ask My XF has 225 wheels on the front hand 235 wheels on the back Is that a problem?
@carfanfan Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it is actually. You need toncheckbthe sticker on your door jam to see what is specified for your model. Having a different spec of wheel on the rear, especially the rear, could cause damage to your diff over long term use. It also puts stress on the suspension components that weren't designed for larger wheels or width, such as bearings, side shafts, shift seals etc. I won't be surprised if you told me your side shift seals are leaking at the diff. If youbhave a V8, it quite possible that's the correct spec, but if not, I'd get the standard wheels back on there.

@carfanfan4 жыл бұрын
Hey there. Sounds to me like you may have one or more defective tps. The sensor is located on the valve itself and the batteries are set to last 10 years or so. If all 4 have given in, you will most likely pick up a problem like this. You can buy a set of 4 from eBay for the price of one OEM tps. It's worth a try to see if it will take your error away. Just remember, once you fit new ones, you must drive the car a few miles for it to pick up the new tps sensors and let it calibrate itself.

I have a question about the exhaust note: Why does it change a minute or so after starting the car and leaving it ticking over? (3.0V6)
@carfanfan6 жыл бұрын
That's due to an electronic idle stabilizer which keeps the RPM high due to the engine being cold. It's similar to a choke on a carburetor car. When the coolant starts to warm up, the idle stabilizer reduces the RPM to a normal range, usually 800 RPM. But it will typically idle at 1100 RPM when cold.
@Jellan6 жыл бұрын
If it's a diesel, it may be starting a DPF regen. They get noticeably deeper in tone as they deliberately overfuel the engine slightly to get the exhaust hot. Nothing to worry about, but to stop it doing it you can give it a cruise on the motorway for half an hour and it should clear the DPF up nicely. If it's petrol, I've no idea :)
