this sounds corny as hell but this band really kept me going when i was really depressed and when i really didn't see a future for myself, i started using drugs and alcohol as "medication" and after abusing both of those became a problem a really good friend of mine took me on a holiday for a week, no drugs no alcohol, hell not even cigarettes, first 3 days were the hardest days of my life.. 4th day we went to a live performance of HIM, it was in a small bar, maybe 25 people were in that night and at the first note they played, i got shivers, started to get really emotional and after just 2 songs i really felt that i had to change every single thing in my life otherwise i wouldn't make it past 23.. the music hit me so hard that evening and still does to this day this band really changed my life a full 180 degrees around.. i quit the drugs, alcohol and the overall toxic lifestyle i was living, only bad habit im still guilty of is smoking cigarettes but at least i live a normal, happy, healthy life.. and all of that.. thanks to this amazing band

HIM has always taken me to a good place, I like to call it "Music therapy" along with many other bands I love but they are my all time #1. I am so glad HIM saved you :) may seem corny to reply to a totally random stranger but you are not alone.

It's not corny at all.. Been there done that too.. drugs and shit.. I'm from finland.. my friend who showed me this song killed himself 5 years ago...and other friends have died of overdoses.. this song gives power. Nowadays I only use alcohol sometimes to escape anxiety and panic attacks though i know its not the real way to treat oneself.

+BM It goes a bit beyond a kiss reference. It's at the same time a dan brown's da vinci code reference, from a particular part where it shows where the great secret was hidden. There's hidden too, in the chorus, the name of a book from Charles Bukowski. The album's name is in reference to a finnish book of poems if I remember well. They're a bunch of cultural motherfuckers.
