This series with Michael Palin has been stunning, the best series I've ever seen. All the features of India, Pakistan, Tibet, etc have shown how material we are in the West.. So many poor, yet good natured people who are very humble. We haven't got a clue in the Western World, but we arrogantly think these people are backward. Palin has been the perfect person for the job, he gets stuck in.

humble and poor. good natured. but women are second class citizens. i like my western arrogance.
@o2xb5 жыл бұрын
@@michaelgriffin7640 sure there exists a lot of misogyny which can be improved upon but second class citizens?? That's going a bit far in my opinion.Lets not pretend women have it any better in the west either with more single mothers than ever before and plenty of cases of sexual exploitation/objectification/abuse along with domestic abuse still rife in the west! Men have exploited and degraded women in the west so far as for them to lose their femininity and woman hood and making them feel like the only way to achieve equality is to be like men!

These images bring back treasured memories of a similar journey I made back in 1991... Starting in Xinjiang Province in China traveling through the Pamir Range, across the Khunjerab Pass and down through the Karakoram Range stopping off in Gilgit, 'Pindi/ Islamabad, onto Lahore and then crossing into India (in my case on foot) at Amritsar, where I spent my first night as an itinerant guest in the Golden Temple. I remember Kashmir being off-limits to travellers at the time. From the distance of three decades it seems like another world entirely!

It should be noted that all empires rise and fall Each dominant culture during its time excelled in war architecture and art. We see the ruins of them . The ancient Greeks are not the modern Greeks and visa versa neither the Egyptians we have seen the collapse of the Soviets and the third Rheich as well as the British empire. It should be noted that with Trumpism still prevailant America cannot be too far behind.

Can't say for sure, but this could be an added feature to the box set, commentary over select scenes from the series.

Love this Dalai Lama. Great person. Islam and Christians are hell bent on conversion. Indian subcontinent based religion never convert. Such as Sikh, Hindus, Buddhist, Jain etc etc.
@o2xb5 жыл бұрын
Hell bent on conversion is a bit extreme, but think about it this way, if you thought what you believed in was the ultimate truth and the ultimate path to salvation why wouldnt you want to share it with others?
@omermalik3204 жыл бұрын
Because muslims care about salvation of their fellow men
@circleancopan7748 Жыл бұрын
Yup, hellbent on conversion. Christians have used Crusades, fearmongering, shock value and destruction of other religions. Islam used terrorism, forced conversions or executions, and hate speech.
