Hi Adam, I spoke to a supposed main man at the Royal Enfield Stand at the NEC Bike show and he said that the 411 would be supported by Royal Enfield for parts etc for 10 years, If he can be believed I think we will be OK.

My local dealer has four brand new 411s in stock, and I just put a deposit down on one of them. And I've never even ridden one. I've been riding a ratty Suzuki DR650 for several years, and I've wanted a Himalayan since they first came out. There really is no other dual sport/adventure bike that I have any desire to own. I watched all of itchy Boots' videos where she rode a Himalayan 411, and that's when I realized how reliable they were. I also watched her review of the new one, and was not impressed. I have absolutely no need for more power or to go fast. At age 59, I do need reasonable comfort, which the Suzuki does not have. I also just plain love the looks of the 411. Seems like they try to make all "modern" bikes look like spaceships, and the 411 has an old school look to it. I plan to keep it for as long as I can ride that type of a bike.
@EpicAdamMotovlogs Жыл бұрын
They are very comfortable & have enough power for realistic everyday use. I notice a lot of the older chaps like my Himalayan. You won't regret it. Let me know what you think, after you get it
@donovandale7077 Жыл бұрын
My whole reason for returning to motorcycling after losing interest 30 years ago, was the ethos behind the Himalayan. A go anywhere back roads and logging trails bike that is so simple that the owner can do his own maintenance and not be at the mercy of a dealer hundreds of miles away. It apealed to my utilitarian sensibilities, and surprisingly, my wife wanted one. Now we have two Himi's AND a Classic 350, because they were so affordable. If RE continues to prioritize the needs of thier home market, i believe they wont abandon the 411, and we will all benefit. The 452 looks like an awesome bike, but i have no need for the things they improved. And i would be unwilling to move to a bike that would be more complex to maintain, even if they kept the price down.
@EpicAdamMotovlogs Жыл бұрын
I heard great things about the classic 350. I prefer to do my own maintenance when I can. I often leave tools at my workplace and do services there. That way, I don't have my nosy neighbours asking me questions

I never buy a bike for it's resale value, same with cars/vans. I buy the bike I want for the role I want it for, if that means taking a hit when selling, so be it. I'm glad you are keeping yours for now, it is certainly still a very KZbin popular motorcycle.
@EpicAdamMotovlogs Жыл бұрын
They are very popular on KZbin. So much so, that I knew this video would do well and its usually difficult to predict how videos will perform.

I have an Himmy with just 11k miles on the clock and I will keep her for a long while, although I start quite liking the 452. The 2 bikes have not a single bolt in common, and presumably, having seen the history of the 411, it will take a couple of cycles to RE to sort out all the little issues of the new one. I've already seen on YT a video of a guy having serious issues with the drive-by-wire of the 452. Anyway, as an ADV rider, I love the simplicity, "back-to-basics" style of the 411, it reminds me the good old days spent tinkering on any motor I could put my hands on....
@EpicAdamMotovlogs Жыл бұрын
I prefer simple bikes. I had that conversation with someone yesterday. You should be able to fix an adventure bike on the side of the road.
@TheRhythmicBiker Жыл бұрын
Price for the 411 will drop anyway now with a newer and supposedly better model coming out, however hopefully all those selling will still get a good price for their bike. Glad you're keeping hold of the 411, looking forward to seeing more of your crazy adventures on it. Hope you're well mate.

I agree with you that the 411 will become a classic and a popular one at that. I disagree that 411 owners will trade up. I think the 450 will attract a lot of new owners but that's just based on my retail experience and the fact that the 450 is quite different. We will see.😊

I think RE made a huge mistake. Those who wanted "more" had a lot of bikes to choose from. Those who liked the Himalayan 411 didn't have anything else to choose from. I have never ridden a Himalayan 411. I'm picking up my brand new one next week.

@@geraldscott4302 I agree. The current Himalayan is unique. It’s understated, and a lot of riders aren’t looking for bristling power. Congratulations on getting your own Himalayan!

Our Himalayan’s are/ were unique. The ‘replacement’ is bottom-end competition for every other ‘dual sport/ adventure bike.’ Though my BS4 Sleet’s well cared for, I could walk away from it any day ..as it’s given me far more than I paid for it 🙂

I just made a video about living with my Himalayan. I can walk away from it but will have to replace it something just as capable of riding lanes, & I think I'll have to pay more money than what the himalayan is worth.

My crystal ball isn't as sharp and clear as it used to be maybe mine has cataracts since in the age neighborhood.😁 If history can be used as a guide then the age of current owners/buyers will be a big dirivers. In the past the older the demographic of owners/buyers the less likely they tended to "upgrade" and hang on to the older model and when buying in more likely to go for deals on the older models. There has been only one group in the older demographic that has for at least three decades ignored that pattern. That's right BMW GS owners. I've seen guys that didn’t look like that they would live another week upgrade to a newer GS.😄😄😄
