I'm loving my mule. 15 years of driving tractor trailer and I never want to ride on big roads again. Boring! I just hit 3k miles so it's time to check the valves, but I think I love it more each day. Played in the sand a little last night and it was good even with the stock tires still on it. Rainy and windy today but I think I may still go out and play. ✌️❤️

RIP Ol’ Man Ronin. I had just joined the group on FB before he lost his battle to cancer. OMR is the reason that I own a Himmy! I would watch these videos in the morning as I drank my coffee before heading into work and I just can’t help to come back and watch these again. I only wish that I could have met OMR and Iron Lady. To the family of OMR that might read this, I hope that these videos find you comfort on the days you need it most. I send my condolences.

Last week I completed my four corners ride on my 2020 Himalayan, so my 411cc single RE has taken me from the top to bottom of mainland Britain and then last week it took me across Britain west to East the longest way. Cheap reliable comfortable, take it anywhere. Some of the little lanes over here were a challenge that the Himmy took in its stride. A joy to own and ride.

A great look at the Himalayan in terms of use, features, and the range of capabilities. I've ridden a lot of different ADV bikes and have found that for my uses which don't include long periods on the super slab, the Himalayan is perfect. For me it's great on dirt, gravel, and off the beaten path. My only limitations are age and reluctance to break my bones!

Anyone riding the Himalayan in order to appreciate it has to first remember that it is simply a two wheel version of the Willy's Jeep. I love Jeeps and have had them for years, they are not designed to be fast but rather slow, stable, go anywhere work mules. The Himalayan was designed as a utilitarian work mule in India. Able to venture safely into the Himalayans carrying heavy payloads. I Live in the Andes and use mine as a primary vehicle at our farm. Loaded with supplies and two people or just me alone, it rides the same unlike lighter bikes. The torque handles steep mountainous terrain under load like nothing else, while at the same time looking good, being a fun and stable ride and also easy on the wallet. And when I hit the highway, it does the job. It may not shine on the interstate, but that's not its design, it shines when climbing steep rough grades under load. The exhaust opens up to a deep rumble and you can't help but smile at the brute power of this bike in rugged mountainous terrain. I have had many bikes over the years from the Kawasaki triple, to the Goldwing and the Ninja, but this bike is by far my favorite. It is the most versatile and efficient bike I've ever had, while at the same time just being plain fun to ride. Royal Enfield got this bike right, I am truly impressed by the company.

Just got my Himmy last week for my daily rider. I'm in Vermont and have an 80 mile round trip to work, 22 miles of which is dirt. I have no words to express how stable and capable this bike is in nearly all situations.

It is a strange bike. You nailed the review, for the right usecase it is best in class. I tested the Scram because I am going on roads and city most of the time. There were some minor annoyances for my tall body (sloping seat, knees on gas tank, bulky sides when standing on pegs). But I bought it anyway. There is no other bike like this that fits my needs so well. Sturdy, cheap, reliable, abs, not much electronic complications, cheap to repair, easy to accelerate, break and turn.

I totally agree with your assessment of the bike. After putting on 4300km on my Himalayan on road, gravel and dirt. I've fallen over a few times on the trail and it still looks new, it's built like a tank.

Hi Ol Man, my 2 cents worth on my 2021 Him. 20k, kilometres just finished 3k kilometre trip through Australia. Extras include, 16t sprocket, 212 tooth d.i.d. chain, lith battery, irrid plug, tec cam fitted and DNA air filter, heidenau tyres (cannot recommend highly enough) bike, at least 12k off road. Bike has been very good, all servicing from new, myself, easy to learn. Professional fitted tec cam. Bar risers and brace, fitted, soft panniers for the trips I have done. No mechanical issues what so ever. 2 relays fitted to rectify GPSensor. Few extra after market goodies, however the bike has been excellent, touring seat and air flow cover recommended, headlight changed, spot light fitted low for dark dirt roads. Excellent Utube channel you have, still have your sticker!! Cheers

G'day Ronin from Australia, a few members of my bike club have Himalayans and have had adventures ride to the outback areas of Australia, have have been told that they perform as good if not better than the main brands of ATV, and now a wether report, it's the blue skies flood season, most roads are cut, towns underwater and all the rivers braking there banks, it's real bad at the moment, looks great where you are, keep having fun mate, cheers, Neil.

I've never ridden a Himalayan but I ordered one recently and it's getting delivered on Monday. I would usually try a bike before ordering one but thanks to reviews like this, I feel safe buying before I try. I also bought it from a very good & trustworthy dealership so I trust its going to work as well as it should. 2019 Himalayan with 9k miles, serviced and has the luggage for £3k, that's about 3,500 usd.

Yup, had one for about 5-6 months now, get out in the fresh air, up on back trails in the mountains, and hay I'm in no big hurry to go anywhere, if I get to a good high up vantage point I stop and take in the view, if I see a little stream I stop and see if I can spot any fish, or just enjoy the sound of a gurgling stream, don't just fly by at break neck speed, who knows you may never be past this way again, so soak it all in enjoy it! For that reason I enjoy most just puddling along on my own, I don't have to prove anything to anyone and for that reason and all the others you mentioned the Himalayan does me just fine. P.S. Love the channel, you have a nice laid back style, dare I say it, you showing your age( me too!), finally developing some brains, it's not about the biggest motor or the fastest machine, there is far more to life and enjoying bikes than that!

After a 40 year dirt of dirt bikes, some of which I modified with big tanks for ADV riding, I bought a 2103 V-Strom 650 for my 60th birthday. I wanted to do a bit more long distance, more back road and dirt road touring. It was a nice bike, but I found its limits on rough dirt roads. Many owners probably never would and would be very happy with some suspension modifications. I made the mistake of test riding the 2015 Tiger 800 XCx and found it far better, albeit at twice the price I paid for the Suzuki. I rode that bike all over Oz on dirt Outback highways ( rough, wet, muddy, rutted, stony) and on sealed highways. It was a pleasure to ride after I had modified it to suit my riding style. It was not perfect in several areas, probably reflecting its design brief to be adequate for European ADV style riding. After looking at it in the shed for two years during Covid lockdowns, I decided that I would sell it. I pulled my 2010 DRZ400E ( ADV modified, 2" lower seat height) from under the sheet and resumed riding. My comments; less weight encourages me to try goat tracks without the fear off dropping it and the costs of breakage ( good) but when the wind and rain storms hit our southern coastal area where I live, the lack of weight allows the DRZ to be blown around like a leaf on the highway at 60 mph. I can see that the Himalayan makes more sense as first ADV compared to any of the Euro or Jap ADV models ( lower seat, cheaper to repair, cheaper to service, less intimidating with power excess) but it might also be a good choice for me at the other end of my riding career. My decision is do I sell my well sorted dual sport for a bike built for easier roads? I need to organize a test ride! I am recovering from a total hip replacement surgery, so maybe the lower seat height will be the clincher for me for swinging my leg over ( including clearing the luggage) . I am enjoying watching your videos OMR while I am healing! Now I will rewatch the KZbin videos of the GS Safaris to see new ADV riders struggle on their 1200 GS bikes; carnage abounds.

Thanks for another honest video about an interesting bike. Your videos about the Enfields have helped me narrow down my next purchase quite a bit... I have yet to find either a Himalayan or Scram to sit on (the nearest dealer to me is almost 150 miles away!) but if I fit on them, it'll be down to one of them or another KLR 650... Oh how I wish they'd make a Scram or Himalayan with a bigger engine! (I've heard rumors that we'll get one with the 650 twin in 2024, but I don't know if I want to wait that long.)

I have a Himalayan. I purchased it in April of 2021. It was my default ride for much of last year and a great deal of this year. I have a Yamaha Super Tenere which I love. I had mechanical issues with the ST that took a protracted length of time to reconcile. Between those obstacles and fuel being more expensive over the summer, I have clocked in about 8,100 miles since first purchasing it.Maybe only 150-175 miles over dirt or otherwise unimproved roads. I'm not extremely demanding of any machines that I own, but I don't park them in the driveway and do nothing but wash and wax them either. Mine has been a joy to ride and own. _For the money I spent on it_, it has given me twice the amount of joy and pride of ownership. I enjoy your thoughts and observations.

I sold my triumph 650 🐅 in 1990 when I married and had kids. 32 years on and I just bought a 2022 Himalayan. I'm in Michigan and will be riding on very similar terrain in the northern lower peninsula. I have been enjoying backpack camping and will use the bike to motocamp where the rv dare not tread. I got mine idling at 700 - 800 revs , which is probably to slow, so I have fitted a cruise control that enables me to keep its revs up after starting, but I just love that very slow idling bike at the stop lights amongst traffic. 34.5 km's per litre for my last fuel economy check. Cruising along below 3,000 revs in 5th gear, I can rest my feet forward on the engine fender and just relax. Tomorrow I'll go on a 500km cruise to a off road camping festival knowing this little tractor like bike will conquer all before it. Yes its a fantastic Mechanical Mule.!!!

Just put about 260 miles on mine yesterday in western Colorado. I did keep her on pavement all day but it was still so much fun. Seeing the leafs change down in the Telluride area with the San Juan’s covered in snow in the background was just stunning. The ride home from that area showed the Himis weakness though. She did struggle on a few hills to stay above 65-70, but that was just a small part of the trip it makes it worth it. I don’t plan on ever getting rid of it. It’s a great bike in town and on mountain back roads. That being said, I have been thinking about getting the toureg 660 for the longer trips where highways can’t be avoided.

Great video.. couldn't agree more on the fact its forgiving.. would I sell mine? No way. Owned and sold a Ducati 996 (should have kept it as a museum piece it was beautiful to look at), CBR600, CBR 400 but the most fun I've had was my Himmy. Over 50 years old and can't wait to get out on it.. easy going simple to maintain, fuel efficient, doesn't make you feel like the devil is sitting on your shoulder saying "faster faster". It's just a relaxing easy going bike.

My 2019 just turned 20 000km since the 15th of January, that a goos bike, and my garage loves working on it, well built, simple, many accessories 👌 I'd like to now your opinion on changing the gear sprocket to a 16 teeth, I've done it on mine, I get 1000 rpm less on 4th and 5th gear. Was hoping to see how you do with it on rougher stuff - steam crossings, gnarly ascents etc. Not for any stunts but just to see how it can sensibly do that stuff for riders like me. As I get closer to 70 I'm looking for a good alternative to my 800GS which btw has taken me everywhere. It's just getting to be a bit of a handful. The Himalayan is available here in Indonesia unlike the Touareg ( dying to try it). The 500cbx doesn't do it for me.

There's a big power and speed mentality in this country and more than motorcycles. Everyone's in a hurry. Take today. Absolutely beautiful. Toured on some nice open roads to relax. There were a lot of motorcycles on the road and everyone trying to do 75-80 on two lane roads. I guess going to the next watering hole. What's the hurry? Perfect day to take it easy and enjoy the ride.

I went through every type of terrain with ease, boggy mud, slick red clay hills, overgrown brush filled game trails where it just plowed through saplings and over fallen trees. I’ve named my Himalayan “whisper” for it is a soft spoken beast!

How about demonstrating how you can get on and off a fully loaded Himalayan. You know what I mean. Its not necessarily easy with a fully laden ATV. The Himalayan center stand makes it easy to get on but how do you get off? Amazingly enough I have found the side stand is upright and strong enough to handle my full weight (115kgs) on the left hand foot peg, and without tipping over I can fling that right leg over. (remember when people complained about the Himalayan side stand being too long) Like wise getting off. Even with the two large pannier box fitted. Check it out. Technique wise you can get a fully laden Himalayan up on its center stand. This is the sort of thing a person seriously going adventure touring really needs to know. No point having a mechanical mule if you cannot get off and on it.

What performance mods do you have on your Himalayan? I was thinking of adding a DNA air filter and cover and Delkevic exhaust. Not sure whether to add a FuelX lite? Is it required?Anything else you recommend? Cheers

Really interested in getting one of these. My only concern is the closest dealer is about 6.5 hours away. Lots of local bike shops where I live that deal with Kawi, Honda, Suzuki etc. that could do basic maintennce and simple repairs. I guess if I had a major warranty concern I could load it into my pickup and take to the dealer 6.5 hours away but wondering if others that have bought a REH have had any significant warranty issues or are they pretty dependable?

Mine was doing that and I took it to the dealership, they said it was the ECU, sent it off to Royal Enfield for repair and not had a problem since.

Had to adjust the throttle control sensor and replaced the botch spark plug to a NGK ironium on mine.Helped big time.

After everything I have explained about emigrating there, the next step is the trip through Hungary. it's so beautiful there, you can't show it from your car. After having seen many motorcycle reviews, I finally ended up with this motorcycle. This is completely in line with the atmosphere of the adventure I am about to experience. Have a simple but maybe a difficult to answer question; "Simply how similar is the old Yamaha XT500 to the Royal Enfield". I think I would love to get one and if it is similar to the XT500 it is a done deal. Have had several XT500 and hated to get rid of them on transfer duty stations. They were never the best at anything but would do damn near anything without complaint as an acceptable level. The new Japan or European bikes just don't have the simple, cheap, and reliable heart that the old XT500 had and it appears that the Enfield may fit the bill. About the only issue I have is convencing MOM.

I have a 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan. Most infuriating piece of garbage I've ever owned. Battery is always dead...endless battery replacements. You can't do highway speeds without redlining the engine. Almost no one sells them or services them. Big disappointment. Buy something...anything...else.

If you want to ride 60 miles an hour on your bullet 500 without burning valves, you can buy from Hitchcocks: PART No. 90175 GEARBOX SPROCKET, 19T, EFI, UK MADE. Buth remember that you need a new sidecovergasket. Chek if it fits your modell.
