Glad Theo made this video It’s hard to have an actual idea of how impressive Kipchoge’s record break is unless you have running experience. Seeing this just shows the levels at which Kipchoge is at. What a specimen he is.

@@adityakr7895 I don’t know if he is from this area,but Kenya has an area where people live that’s 8000 feet above sea level. Being born and raised in that altitude mean your lungs work twice as hard as everyone else’s until they have adjusted to it. Then they train up there. Their lungs are something people that live at sea level couldn’t understand without altitude masks. People like kipchoge are just marvels

Should do this on an athletics track in a different video, so 17 seconds for 100m, 34 for 200m, 68 for 400m targets and so on

Excellent to see this type of content on mainstream KZbin, however as a semi experienced athlete seeking international selection in the coming months and to compete in the next commonwealth games. I still find it mind blowing the achievements Kipchoge has achieved. He is so good his only opponent is the clock

Seen a few say the treadmills a lot easier but for me personally I find running outside at that pace a lot easier than on a treadmill, though Kipchoge’s pace is insane either way 😅

Agreed cam. I used to think treadmil was easier when I ran once ina blue moon...now I run 30miles a week on road and treadmil is awful I sweat buckets and find it way harder even an easy pace seems harder than on road imo.

I think it's more of a mentality thing at least for me it's hard for me to maintain a solid Pace because I literally am going nowhere whereas I feel like I'm making progress running outside

kelvin kiptum is gonna smoke kipchoge's record. he's 23 and already just 16 seconds off the WR time in his second ever marathon. he smashed kipchoge's course record by over a minute in london. he'll be first to go sub 2 in less than 3 years and he'll do it in berlin.

When I was in college, sub 3:30 km, yes a 1000m run(not a 3m30/km pace over a longer distance) was A+ grade, I managed to clock in 3m13, being in my top shape, feeling like Im spitting out my lung. This man managed to hold sub 3min pace over a marathon distance...

We used to have something called the cooper test in the Netherlands. It's just 12 minutes of running but for the boys A+ or 10/10 would be 3200 meters. Only managed to get it once, but that's exactly 3:45 per km for 12 minutes.

@@suckieduckie yes! I did a Cooper test in primary school, sometime near the end, cant remember, I was about 12 yo at that point and I set a school record with 2700m I believe, there is 0 chance I could repeat that these days 🤣

@@09MENIM3 Same here on the repetition front. I think I ran my best one when I had just turned 16. At the time I played football 7 times a week but even then 3200m was quite a long distance. We had one kid in our year that did track and field and he managed 3700m or something.

Top speed of Nordictrack's treadmills are 12 MPH, or 5 min per mile pace or 3:07 minutes per kilometer. AssaultRunner treadmills assuming you can run fast enough will let you hit that speeds, which is why it feels harder, because you where never running that fast on the treadmill. There is no proof or time from the treadmills are ever shown, but the truth is they where running 5 minute mile pace or slower.

The free run treadmill is definitely harder but the march on lot didn’t all look like they were consistently running at the correct pace so I’d be interested to watch them do it on the treadmill

that treadmill is not calibrated properly, no way based on your previous running you can hit a sub 3:00/km lad

hes done a sub23-24 5k if im not wrong.which is 4:40 pace. hell easily be able to do a sub 3 1 k. anyone with a sub25 5k will be able to especially if ur younger

@@JosephExplores i mean it really depends on age. for eg if u do a lot of sprint work for eg play a high intensity sports and are able to finish a 22-23 5k its pretty easy.about 5-7 memebers of my team were able to do it and none can run a sub20 5k

They had teams of guys who were alternating pacers who ran with him for specific distance & then let the next team take over

yeah they were pacers, which means they ran like about 10km with him then went off and let others who were fresh to run with him. This is also the reason its not considered an "official" world record because he had alternating pacers helping him along with a pace car that blocked some headwind for him
