There are torque arms that should have come with the bike, that fit right onto the dropout with a hole that lines up with with the one on the frame... Glad customer service has been cool for you. They have been good at responding to my emails so far... I hope my part arrives soon

Sounds like Himiway stands behind their products. I think the complaints may be due to the bikes require some maintenance which many people are unaware of (or how to do) and it's hard to find a local shop that knows anything about e-bikes they don't carry. Nice that they at least pre-install a new freewheel. Saves a mess of DIY. Hub motors this powerful should really come with torque arms. You should definitely install 1 or 2 before using the new motor. Ride on & enjoy;)

Yeah I'm glad I didn't have to switch the free wheel over That would have been a pain. I fixed it last night torque arms wouldn't work but the torque washers are in there at least..

You can use a metal bracket as a torque arm if you don't already have one. Just need to drill out the holes in the right spots and make sure that the hole for the hub bolt has two flat sides to keep it from spinning.

Wow that was great. I had been told that if I bought a spare battery that I would receive it end of April an so I bought it a week after I ordered my cruiser which I only waited 3 weeks for. When 1st of May came no battery was delivered so I contacted customer service . They said that it wouldn't arrive until sometime in August so I didn't want to wait the several months because I was going to use it this summer for travel . I had no problem with them refunding me the very next day. So far I've had no problems , and I just love all the power that it has.

Cut notch larger, keep rectangular. Shape brass insert with file. Solder brass plate to brass insert so to make lip. The lip keeps insert positioned and is wide enough to catch the extra threaded hole to work like torque arm. Drill hole for axle making diameter same as distance between axle flats then extend curves by filing inside hole with round rat tail file. Scribing two lines will help guide filing. The important part is keeping the two flats parallel and tight fitting. File and test the fit, repeat till it just makes it in. Though brass insert is softer metal, the insert in combination with soldered plate and binding force of axle nut should be adequate to prevent axle turning. Alternatively you could use steel but soldering brass is easier. Cutting the notch out larger on first step might not be required but just to make insert heaftier. Consider no matter how precise the axle fits inside insert and insert into frame there will always be micro slack, so insert thickness, width and strength will be necessary. Only issue is maintaining center and tightness of fit.

I have two Radpower bikes a ride1up and a Himiway cruiser. They all have torque arms. I bet being a prototype or a bike for beta testing they just didn't get installed.... maybe call customer service and ask if the escape is supposed to have them? My question would be .. Was the blown up tork-spacers on both sides Available from-at Himiway Customer Service ??? Have collected several videos of makeshift versions Of TORQUE ARM SUPPORTS... THIS BIKE has such a huge plate... and lots of surface... Where the center shaft penetrates and the bolt tightens up against Gives enough rooom to create a plate With [ precautionary ] small frame slot fillers tacked on the plate Or go big time and have a machine shop Mill down a 3/8 plate to 3/16 creating the frame slot fillers on both sides of the through bolt hole in the plate As one solid piece with frame spacer risers for both sides of the bolt as part of the plate not tacked on to it... Which would be AWESOME... Would make the shaft torque bracket bolted to the large frame plate... 3/8 inch slotted contact on the output threaded shaft. on both sides... There really is no other resolve... no other half ass make it work fix... Mfgr's didn't want to do this.. and sucker us into buying this engineering cluster hump... Cause they want US TO RESOLVE THEIR DESIGN FLAWS.... And by the way... the bolts to hold the plate on the outside of the slotted wheel plates... from inside to out they need to be carridge bolts... --- yeah.. round headed squared channel CARRIDGE BOLTS You square the bolt hole in the frame wheel support plate - not your adapter plate Being a big boy and all.. ya put it all together... might want to put slotted bolt holes in the torque plate if you feel the need It's not that hard to do.... you know.. round file...... only need 2 bolts in the TORQUE plate through the FRAME SUPPORT PLATE Elongate them a little So... last step... Been waiting for this... The exposed wires that were twisted from the torque desimation as in this video... Depending on... views we never see resolve or results... if it just goes back on warranty.... The question is... is it worth it... to fix.. or fix as spare... BECAUSE this issue of the Torque effects.. can not be fixed half assed... and.. lets see if you Having already had the experience of removing the housed motor from the rim housing... All ya got to do is cut off the plug that is locking all the UNREMOVEABLE WASHERS AND BOLTS **** when ever you cut wires... STAGGER CUT THEM ... strip off shrink tube and give at least 1" between cuts **** Using 3/4 long shrink tube pieces on each splice.. as detailed above. So you can pull the wires out of the through shaft..... find the exposed ones.. and put shrink tube on em.. Ya got to get experienced help or have some witts about you... Stagger cutting wires stripped 1/8 only after cut - loses 1/4 " in wire length overall after re-soldered on cable length Might be able to pull the planetary gears in the hub.. when you start off to use as test station in rim off the bike Could be 8 to 12 wires through hub to harness connector... Not good to not stagger cuts before harness connector .. after shrink tubed it will be a cluster hump The mass number of un-reported wheel shaft torque events ... has to be MASSIVE... THANKS to CitizenCycle for doing and laying out some groundwork

A torque arm is your rear axle solution. I believe, from watching your other videos, that you also have one of more Rad bikes. Rad uses that same rear axle solution. Take a look at how they do it.

I was looking forward to this one. That's so great you had a good experience and you didn't give it away that you are Citizen Cycle. I think the torque arm idea is perfect. It's got that hole in the right spot. Did the axle get stripped at all? I'm assuming not since you didn't mention it.

I waited a week and got no response. When I finally commented on one of their fb adds, they insisted I send a video of a loud click in the crankset which only occurs underload. They had no suggestions on how that could be reasonably done. Then they explained that their warranty covered parts only as well. At that point I decided it would be simpler to have it repaired at a bike shop. I think my next bike will be a better known brand with better support.

Rad Rover has a torque arm which is held in place with a screw on disk brake side on dropout in back .ive noticed a few bikes that dont have this, imo a recipe for disaster the frame being aluminum .

Covert experience, until they looked at shipping address.....hahahaha Incognito Citizen. You know me, size matters of the motor that is. You briefly mentioned the motor looked smaller, please compare (we know you will) the side by side before the switch install. Placed my order for the Cruiser based upon all your Himi vids. April 3rd and will pick up at the warehouse when it arrives. Every email I send they respond next day. I now have word "'before the end of the month". Staying tuned and of course Ride ON!

I’m content with my RadRover now that I put a 52 V 20 amp triangle battery on and I’m hoping to get a second battery soon, she does 33 now no peddling required.

I would say that's good customer support in my book, and it sounds like you have a good plan for the torque arm. You might also look into torque washers with tabs on them. Nice touch on the helical reduction gears for the motor. The are quieter and slightly stronger because more than one tooth is meshed at a time, but they also induce side thrust and are less efficient. I think I would prefer helical in this case. Oh no! I just realized the motor has a magnet shell that does not go all the way to the cover plate! It must be a 500 watt motor!!! 😉

People underestimate how quick you can remove metal with a file! One could take some bar stock, drill three holes, file to shape, and tap the third hole.

I asked customer service how to remove the fenders and rear wheel which was just very snug, and they sent back a video to watch. Definitely not a US company but it's been reasonable. But content people don't go out of their way to praise their experience.

I bought an ecotric Hammer bike last year. Mine has about 800 miles. The brake pads are pretty worn. They are the metallic HD E500 brake pads. I cannot find any except for if I order them from Australia or England. I got some that fit but they don't work right because they're not metallic period And I may have gotten a tiny drop of oil on them also. I will try and refurbish the ones I have but I should be able to get parts for my bike and I cannot not from ecotric bikes not for 3 months. These are different than the other brakes. What a bummer I wanted to go camping this summer is my only transportation. I wonder if any of those himiway bikes have the same metallic HD E500 brake pads? I have always gotten a response within one day. My bike has the same crappy kickstand as those. The first one broke the metal broke not the plastic. I bought another one and I got it pretty quick for $15 but I should not have had to buy one when it broke the metal broke. I have seen nobody put a bike to the test that I did. I went camping I was towing a wagon with probably more than a hundred pounds of wood in it period while I thought the motor would go but it did not. I went over woodchuck holes through Farmers Fields over ruts made by tractors from plowing. Bleeding brakes is not as easy as they make it look. At least I don't think so. I think if you do not have a plunger on each end one of those syringes it does not work properly. The way ecotread showed me they sent me a video was open the top and drain it out the bottom onto a rag by the brake. It doesn't work very well if you get a drop of oil on the brakes or the rotor. I got to learn I can't afford to pay $100 to have brake put on

Been watching your video's , there interestingly informative . I live in the mountains a lot of 6 to 9% 2 to 5 mile stretches that kill my battery ! Your rad monster 2x2 got me thinkin " 2 motors one tire" hub drive mid assist .still 2 different whole systems . 1st ' witch would you add to a existing e bike ? 2nd would it be more efficient than 2 hub motors ?

Adding a mid drive would certainly help with hill climb power, more so than the direct drive front motor I added. I just did the front wheel motor cuz it seemed way easier.

Holy cow those dropouts look bonkers. Honestly a frame from a pre-built ebike manufacturer shouldn't even need torque arms, it's like you are buying a diy built bike from some of these manufacturers. With those torque arms it makes it Hella hard to take the wheel off when you need to.

I'm not sure, I don't know what would have loosened up those axle nuts. Maybe the curb jumping did it .. Just fixed it last night and it seems to be fine now.

Yes they respond quickly if you email them late at night because it’s morning in China. To me a ‘warranty’ should also cover labor, but I guess that’d make the bike cost more. If something broke on my new Toyota I’d lol if they told me I needed to take a video of it and then they’d send me the part for me to replace myself.

Brian, I just purchased a brand new Himiway Zebra Step Over a week ago and notice that whenever I turn the light on, my taillight stays on for about 5 minutes while I am riding before it shuts off. During this time, my front light is still on and my brake light still flashes whenever I press the brake. After I shut the light off and turn it on a few minutes later both lights start working again. Once I turn the light back on for a few more minutes, the same happens again. What do you think might be the issue?

Do you happen to know the manufacturer of the Himiway motor? The reason I ask is that I have a Fiido T1 with the same mag wheels. I am wondering if its an option if I ever needed to replace it. Also if I ever wanted to change out controller it might be good to know.

I tried to call their customer service phone number three times today during their normal business hours. It rings about three times and a recording comes on and says, "The person you are trying to reach is not available. Please leave a message." I don't know but I thought they would have at least set up an automated message to identify themselves as Himiway Customer Service instead of some generic recording. I wanted to talk to someone before I spent $2000. This is just me being cautious. Hopefully someone will reply to their email.

@@CitizenCycle925 iv got it at 25psi. I rode the bike for the first time this morning and the tires look wobbly when they spin. In some areas you can see the bead of the tire popping over the rim and in most of the tire looks good. Maybe it's normal,I'm not sure.

@@idamexmex4206 I got a flat on my Escape 3 days ago and walked it over to a tire shop for the repair. They overinflated it and afterwards I had the EXACT issue that you describe. The tire shop then had to re-seat the tire and work the bead a bit. If you’re not a tire guy (like myself) take it in and have them repair it (reseat the tire). Might not even cost you the $8.00 it cost me because they also repaired my flat. Good luck.

all these ebike companies have their issues, none are perfect. i know someone personally who bought 2 Rads and the controllers both went bad in the 1st week. I have never had any problems with my rad bikes though.

My guess is that the fact that the bike has no frame number was the tip off. They know this bike was more than likely a prototype. The pictures you sent I'm sure confirmed that. That was also what tipped them off it was in the hands of a person like yourself (E bike reviewer) and went out of their way to please you. I was seriously thinking about getting one of their bikes but just don't trust Chinese business practices and the more I read about this outfit the less I trust them. The cost is way more than a senior citizen on fixed budget aka as me can afford to lose. Think about it, they steal others hard earned ideas and knock off everything in sight. I have read their batteries are also not what they claim they are. Fake Samsung or LG cells is what is what some are saying. CCP owned company is also what I have read. It can't all be BS can it?
