I’ve used your videos in the past to help repair my Himiway. I just want to make a comment regarding you removing the part about using a persuader to tap the rear axle loose. I do not have the strength to align and remove the tire properly. I had no choice, but to use to a persuader. Your original video explained how to do it properly without ruining the threads, that should still be in there as an option so people know how to do it properly if needed. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
@TinkeringTurtle

I appreciate your feedback. It is better if you can align the flats and work the axle out of the dropouts. For your reference keep the nut on the axle and “hit” that nut in lieu of the threads. Use a rubber mallet if at all possible.

Hey! Well I did it. All your videos helped so much. I even replaced the disc bc it wears unevenly bc the caliper doesn’t cover it all the way. Have to figure out a modification for that. I noticed that the screws for the old disc and the new one were very sensitive. A number of them had to be removed with a drill. Have you noticed that? Was wondering if I was using the wrong sizing I’m thinking of getting a newer bike like the Escape and have both so I have a back up in the event of a flat. I did pretty well, over 3000 miles before my first one. And I just replaced tires too. Do you prefer the equivalent LYNX or Magicycle
@TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle 11 ай бұрын
I didn’t have any issues with replacing brake rotors. The screws came out without too much encouragement. The Lynx and the Magicycle Ocelot are pretty different. The Magicycle has a couple glaring issues. The first is, if your a taller rider (6’ or over) the seat post doesn’t go down in the tube very far and it can cause problems. If you’re under 6’ it shouldn’t affect you. The second thing is both good and bad. It has a LOT of power. Not so much that it is scary, but enough to just fly up hills. The problem lies in “ghost” pedaling. Because of the power you very quickly end up ghost pedaling as the motor powers thru. That being said, I simply love riding this bike. it’s easy on and off and has nimble steering. It’s a fun ride! The Lynx out of the box is a really nice bike. Great power, easy on and off with a nice sitting position. I really haven’t had too many issues with it at all. My wife has been riding it a lot and loves it. I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

Thankyou for all the helpful videos you post. I have a question. The harness connection to the wheel is seized up. What caused this and how do I loosen this up or most I totally replace the harness?
@TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle 11 ай бұрын
For the cruiser, I know that Himiway have used two different connectors over the years for that connection. I have heard of them seizing. And I can only think of a couple reasons that might happen. The first, and least likely, would be dust, dirt or debris working its way in and causing the issue. The second reason, and most likely, would be the connector overheating and basically melting together. In the latter case the connector would need to be replaced.

@TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle 2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t had any real issues with it. You see me adjusting it a lot in this video, but that is due to the right and left axle nuts being different sizes and not because it loosens up. And I do like the rubberized grip, it makes it very comfortable to use.

As far as I know you need to contact support for those replacement parts as the pinouts to the controller are specific. Beyond that you would need to find a motor, rim , controller and probably screen combo.

Hi. I want to replace the Tektro rotors on my cruiser. Do you know the correct thickness for the 180mm rotors? Amazon is not clear on the thickness. Got any suggestions on Amazon? Love your videos. Do you have one to replace the motor? My next task.
@TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle 7 күн бұрын
I measured the thickness of the rotors on my Himiway. It was 0.070” thick. I did a video on replacing the rotor on my Magicycle, you can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oarNmZaqj52Lg5o And although I haven’t replaced a motor yet, I know citizencycle replaced his Himiway Escape motor a few years back. I think it is the same motor/process as the cruiser. check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aonFgmpmeqyge9Usi=DvRhkuxYCIQ4RI7Z I hope this helps!

Speaking of changing over time, I was wondering if you can answer some questions about the Himiway Cruiser that is shipping out at this time. I've read in a few places, not official sources, that the bike now has the Bafang motor and the connector appears to have only three conductors, leading me to believe that it's sensorless, and the motor wires are now larger gauge??? Also, the speed limiting screen, "LS" on my bike had a factory setting of 32kph and only goes up to 40kph. I'm good with that speed limit, but was curious if that was common now??? Thanks
@TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Victor, I can’t speak to the motor or wiring as I don’t have one of the new bikes. For the speed limiter, I have heard for over a year now that the Himiway bikes are limited to 25 mph (40kph). Sorry I can’t give you more info.
@shmaknapublar
@shmaknapublar 2 жыл бұрын
@@TinkeringTurtle I can confirm that changing the wheel size diameter in the controller is a way around the factory speed limit on bikes with the 40kph limited software version. It also gives a false speed reading and odometer measurement, but if you just want to go faster.......I chose the 24in diameter option and the local speed monitor clocked me at 28mph while reading 24mph on my display, whereas the factory setting only achieved around 22mph on the same neighborhood radar sign. It feels plenty fast for a large, heavy bike with marginal braking power. :)

Hi I did this and now getting an error 25 (brake) and no power UGGH any suggestions..
@TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle Жыл бұрын
Error 25 is a brake abnormality. Removing the rear wheel and putting it back on shouldn’t affect that particular error. Unless you somehow messed up the rear caliper. Typically error 25 means the brake handle isn’t returning to its normal resting position. Error code 25 is a brake fault. Typically this is because the sensors in the brake handles are not closing. I always advise people to do a brake adjustment…this ensures the brake handles are returning to their full resting position when released. Brake adjustment video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3nGXoFvds-oerM After that, if the issue persists you will need to determine which brake handle is causing the issue. With the bike off unplug one sensor at a time and restart the bike to see if the error is gone. Repeat for the other side to determine where the fault is coming from. These plugs pull straight apart, DO NOT twist. Make sure to line them up correctly when re-inserting. When you determine which sensor is causing the issue, follow this video to adjust them. (Make sure to loosen the set screw before tightening or loosening the sensor) Brake sensor adjustment video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJPJg5lubr15qJI Hope this helps

I have BIG Problems with the rear tire. Two people have replaced Blown Tubes during the last year. After each job, the motor makes "Struggling Sounds". Today, 6/26/23 the bike shakes so much that I am uncomfortable riding it. Suggestions? I would email you but I have failed at figuring out how. HELP!
@TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. This may sound odd, but I would check the connectors between the controller and the motor. It sounds like that connection isn’t fully seated. Pull the connector straight apart, do NOT twist. Check both sides for dirt or debris…make sure it’s clean. When putting it back together make sure to line up the arrows on each side of the connector, then push them straight together. Make sure it is fully seated. Hopefully that will straighten everything out.

Most likely they didn’t push it together all the way. So the connection possibly was “arcing” (for lack of a better term) and that intermittent connection gave you the stuttering affect. I am hopeful that your next ride will be smooth as butter! Enjoy the ride. 👍
