The 2020 models have the EXACT same components as the 2021 models. The difference is, that Himiway changed their controllers to REDUCE the maximum speed. You could adjust the control module of the 2020 models of the cruiser to reach a top speed in excess of 32 mph. In early 2021, Himiway REDUCED the top speed after adjusting the control module to a maximum top speed of 28.6 mph. However, Himiway took it a step further on the newest 2021 cruiser modules to where they will not exceed 24 mph. The problem I have with Himiway is that they did this, WITHOUT INFORMING US.

I received my bike on the 2nd week of September 2021. I chose this Himiway brand because I watched videos from about 8 to 12 months ago where people were hitting 33 mph on older model bikes. Both my new Himiway step through bikes can only max out to 25 mph on flat ground clocked by both my android and garmin gps; I am very disappointed! I wanted to return them both but on the first ride, I had already gotten the bikes dirty with mud and also tore up the boxes upon unpacking them. I should have purchased an Aventon or other newer bike. So, buyer beware, read the newest reviews before you buy your next ebike. BTW, nowhere on the batteries on both bikes does it say Samsumg or LG, I may have been duped by false advertising.

I just received mine in July 2022. I also didn't realize they lowered max speed from 45 to 40kph in the settings. I'm half tempted to return it. Though my understanding is most major brands like Rad and Aventon are now doing the same.

I was disappointed when I tried to change the setting on my 2022 model but they do market the bike as a class 2 ebike which is 20mph. They do not state anywhere in their documentation that it can be changed. As long as they don't limit it lower than class 2 ebike specs then they have not really done anything wrong.

That’s exactly how I have my pedal assist settings 0-9 and start at 20% and go up 10% on each setting! Works for me! Thanks!

The LS is in km/hr not mph. Therefore, the default of 36 is 22 mph and the max of 45 is 28 mph.

My Escape is maxing out at 25mph after the speed unlock. It is on 48V at 25psi, I weight 180 pounds.

My bike 2 years old. If top speed is realistically 22 mph. I set 1 on the 40. I want 10 mph on 1, 13 on 2 which is about 50%. 75% on 3 . Up to 95% for top speed. Honestly I dont care about top speed. Secret is I use throttle to start bike. This equals instant control. Very smooth starts and operation. Once bike starts rolling shifting through speeds very smooth. Also when going slow, 3 mph, always throttle. Very easy to control speed of bike. I get 50 miles on battery charge continuously. Needless to say I ride alot on 1 trying not to show power bar

I started to fine tune the settings on my himiway and found that my bikes speed was set to 40 it won't go any higher so at intervals of 10 starting with 1-9. 20. 2-9, 30 3-9, 40 ect. Up to 9-9, 99 why woulden the no. 40 refuse to go any lower then 40 ?.

Hi, i get my city bike yesterday. I did the same steps like you, but it get not to the screen where i had to tipe the code in. After step 1 and to, i am direct on the "ld" screen and the "ld" is blinking. Then "i" and iam in the ls screen. The speed limit is blinking, but i can bot change it. Do you know whats the problem? I set mine to 45 and maxed the bike out at 26 mph with wheel size set to 28” from the default of 26” ( now changed to the 700 setting )

Did you find that the miles ridden is more accurate? AT 26 inch I find that 16 miles on the display is actually 15 miles according to GPS.

@@stevensmith9001 Why 700mm? The full diameter of the wheel plus 4" tire is 30". Does the 700mm setting account for this extra diameter? How did you calculate the proper dimension?

@@rpeltier2621 back in Germany I got one of these little bike computers. the early electronic ones. To set the wheel size one had to measure the circumference of the wheel w/whatever tires on the bike. Then you had to enter (in exact mm) the measured distance into the computer. No 700c or 28 or w.h.y. . doesn't get any more precise like that. I now have to figure something like that out for my H. W. .

@@godhasleftthebuilding3224 Same here. Using 28" (highest setting), but speed/mileage still read slightly faster/longer than GPS measured. In a way don't mind because the bike says I'm pedaling further than actual, so I can claim I did 10 miles when I actually accomplished 9.8!

I see a number of screens on the market that have so much more to offer, has anyone looked into better units that can be plugged in. looks like some might just fit others may need a wire change but also will work. Hope one of the techy people do it.

Lol, funny you should say that. I was just talking to an aftermarket display dealer that is sending me some display units for Himiway, KBO and Snapcycle that will have the ability to increase speeds of the bikes. Stay Tuned!

Hello ^^ I also drive a HIMIWAY Cruiser. A great e-bike. I have 2 problems. On my display is always indicated that the battery is full.But I have already driven 40 miles. On my battery you can see that a few green bars are less. What can I do ? Greetings from Germany.

There is a way to make the motor assist me sooner? It takes like 2 second or more for the pedal assist to start and it's annoying in traffic to have all the time a slow start.

Excellent video. Whenever I get my Cruiser I'll just use your video as my tutorial...lol. I just set up an account at the Himiway website and I've got a Cruiser in my shopping cart. I sent an email to Himiway support asking about raising the speed limit and all they replied was that the top speed is 25 mph. They're probably bound to saying that due to legal and liability reasons. But recently someone told me that Himiway has changed something and it might not be possible to enter the programming and change the top speed. Do you know if it's still possible to reprogram to the higher speed on a new Cruiser that I'll probably place the order for within the next week?

Unfortunately you can only unlock a few extra mph on the new models. But if you join all the Himiway owner Facebook group pages, you might be get lucky and be able to buy or trade for an older 2020, 2019, 2018 LCD Display. They are pretty much plug and play, and the older displays let you unlock the bikes full potential. There are a lot of people selling their bikes that you can maybe work something out with regarding the LCD display. Also when your ready, don't forget you can get $60 off by using the link I provided.

@@E-Ryders Interesting. If a good used display is tough to find I wonder if maybe a new display can be bought from Himiway of from a shop? I think it's worth looking into because quite a few new Cruiser owners would be interested. I think Himiway is somewhat covering their asses here because if someone got injured riding at 35 mph there would probably be a few lawsuits saying Himiway was negligent in allowing the top speed to be too easily changed. It would be nice if someone tried this to be sure it works. Subject for a video don't ya think?

@@ozzie444 there has been videos on class 2 and class 3 consequences and liability throughout the ebike community. Not only is it mechanically problematic burning out motors when people ride full throttle on an unlocked ebike set to a class 3, but there are many laws that riders break. Class 3 speeds on something that has a motor requires a license and has to be used on the road, not most common public bike trails etc.

What I need to know is how to change the number of pedals before the assist kicks on. I have two bikes. On one the pedal assist does Not kick in until I do The 3rd pedal, And then every 3rd pedal it kicks on which I prefer. The other ebike it immediately kicks on with the first,pedal and every,pedal which I dont like. It has me going faster and faster for the gravel terrain I am on. Its too fast. How I do I change the second bike from every first pedal to every third pedal? HELP

If you purchase thru Amazon, Himiway will not honor their on warranty. imo, that is some shit. They're making money from that sale but they're not going to honor their own warranty because you bought it from Amazon instead of Himiway directly. Imo, Himiway if f'king over their customers.

@Ohio Biker I’ve been told by several people, the displays are plug and play. The 2019 goes up to 99. The 2020 model is Limited to 45 but it’s better than 40? Problem is trying to come across an “old” himiway bike that no one is using or is out of commission already.
