I just did my Himiway Cruiser with the Tannus liners. Before I installed them I wiped the inside of my tires and the inner tubes with baby powder. Everything went very easily. The baby powder helps everything slide better and seat the tire inside the Tanus liner. Also the bit of baby powder residue where the tire bead is helps the tire align properly when inflating it. I also added 12 oz of multi-purpose FlatOut. There was a test done by Bolton eBikes recently where they tested different liners and liquid tire sealant and the combination of the Tannus liners with the FlatOut was the best.

Robert from nearby Byron Center. Thanks again for your contribution! I had a flat tire at just 50 miles on the odo and rather than get a $25 tube from Village Bike I decided to order Tannus inserts. QuietKat had them in stock. Had to wait a bit but it was worth it. While following your instructions I found the source of the flat. It was a cm long shard of glass which wouldn't have been a flat had I already had the Tannus. Thanks again and possibly I'll see you on Lake Shore Dr next summer.

Insted of checking that line is perfect all the way around a trick is to use soap and water and make the edges soapy so that when you inflate the pressure will allow the bead to find its place

My tire is Rad Mini rear 20 x 3.3. The insert is for 3.0 - 4.0. I'm having trouble getting the valve stem through the hole in the rim. One of the edges of the Tannus insert seems to be in the way. So I think I'll need to trim the insert down. I watched you video to see how much to cut off and you did answer that in the first couple minutes - 1/4" on both sides. So thanks.

I ordered 26x4 Tannus and just got a call from my bike mechanic that they don't fit. He sent a picture showing a liner easily fitting inside the spoked part of the rim to prove it clearly won't fit into the tire as the tire is way too big. Not sure why. This is a 2022 step-through model. Ugh, it's one thing after another, especially with the flats. These bikes seem more costly and much more of a PITA to maintain than my car!

UPDATE. I knew I read it somewhere, so I got out my Tannus installation guide and on page 3 under Tips For Installing Tannus Armour it states (It is common for the Amour to compress over time. It still is providing shock absorption and puncture resistance but will perform better when properly maintained. To minimize compression deflate the tires while not use. This allows the Armour compound to rebound to provide ideal performance.) So does that mean when your not riding your bike, your suppose to let the air out of the tires? I'm sorry but that's not happening. I don't know how everyone else feels, but if I would have known that earlier, I would not have purchased the Armours.
@TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle 2 жыл бұрын
It means once and a while they recommend that you allow the Armour to rebound. I have over 2700+ miles on my bike and have never had an issue. You could consider deflating your tires over winter, other than that I feel your fine. Enjoy your ride!

The drawbacks to slime or flat out would be the potential mess, clogging of the valve stem. And my understanding is that the slimed tube needs to be replaced every two years. That being said I think both products can do very well.

Hi Tim, I hope you've been well. Recently, my wife had a flat tire on her Himiway Cruiser. Of course it had to be the back tire! LOL. Anyway, I had installed Tannus Armour liners about 2 years ago but I was surprised when I took the tire off the rim to repair the inner tube, that the liners were now thin. They no longer had that cushion like they did when new. I reached out to Tannus and was told that they will compress and I should air down the tires monthly and put the bike in the sun to help decompress the liners and for better results, to remove the liners and leave them in the hot sun for several hours. I thought that was a strange response. Who is going to do that every month? What are your thoughts on this? I can forward the email response I received if you like. Rob
@TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle 2 ай бұрын
I have heard that before. I didn’t realize they wanted you to do it monthly, but I have heard they wanted you to let it relax. I personally don’t. So mine are likely thinned out. I figure they still give some protection, just not as much. I haven’t been purchasing them for new bikes, but I have been re-using them when switching tires. I went to a new type of tire and so far I haven’t had any flats. I think the knobby tires that come with the bike tend to catch debris and sets it up for a puncture. My new tires don’t seem to catch the debris the same way. They just roll over them. They do feel a little different while riding … more grippy. But once you’re used to it, it is really nice. I show them in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoDciJebitlqqtU

Since we put in these liners almost 3000 miles ago (on two bikes…almost 3000 miles each) we have only had one flat. It was an inch and a half long nail…liners won’t stop that. @TinkeringTurtle
@TinkeringTurtle 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy, I chose not to use a tire sealant. Mostly because, from what I have read, you need to replace the tubes every couple of years as the sealant (slime) will harden over time. As you can see from the video I chose to use the Tannus inserts. So far, between two bikes, we have only had one flat. (1 1/2” long nail) Over 2500 miles on each bike… I figure, if I feel the need to add sealant in the future, I can. But for now I am happy with the inserts. Thanks for the question!

Not completely sure what your asking. You put the liner in the tire while it’s off the rim, then slide the first side of the tire/bead over the rim along with the first side of the insert. Then put in the tube and put the valve stem in. Followed by the second side of the insert and finally the second bead of the tire.

No, I put these in shortly after receiving my bike as a preventative measure to getting flats. Although I have read about others struggling with multiple flats I a short period.
