HIMYM: The Mother Deserved Better!

On How I Met Your Mother, after making Tracy so awesome and so clearly right for Ted, the show totally misstepped by discarding her and turning her into just a "stepping stone" love interest. If HIMYM wanted us to forget Tracy so quickly, maybe it shouldn't have made her so loveable.

It’s because they shot all the kids scenes early on to avoid having really old kids during what was supposed to be a relatively short telling of how they met (relative to the amount of time the story covered). They basically wrote the ending by season 4 or 5 and were stuck with it. Instead of having a natural development of the characters they had to change it all at the end in order to fit the opening scenes which had been shot years earlier.

I see this comment alot. And it's pretty invalid when you break it down. They weren't stuck with the ending they could've cut the scene with the Children reduced it to additional content and created the proper ending. With no scene of the children needing to be added

You know. Barney wasnt a great guy. He was disrespectful to women and aswell as that robin was very mean to patrice all the members of the group have their flaws… but after watching the finale the most evil charachters in the show were teds kids. They didnt care about stories about their dead mother and urge their dad to move on from their dead mother. Wtf😢

Yeah that's what I thought, maybe if the mom was Victoria it would've been better. But she wasn't and the real mom barely got any time.

The whole story is about Robin. Not Tracy. It had always been. The show starts on the day Ted met Robin. Ted starts his story of "How I met your mother" to his kids from that day. Because subconsciously he's asking their permission to pursue happiness with Robin. That is and had always been the whole premise of the story and they foreshadow this SO FREAKIN MUCH in every conceivable way. Not just easter eggs. Even the pattern of storytelling in the plot. Nested n repeated through each episode and season and the overall series.
