Fascinating how he makes a piece for bass that's like a mathematical treatise whilst the Viola sonata is so lyrical. It's an interesting contrast.

To me there's so much emotion in this piece especially the 3rd movement, but you're right there's something very calculated and mathematical about it as well.

Seems like he really knows the sound characteristics of each instrument. The bass has more of a sound that is close to the “nature”. Don’t you feel like the pizzicato of the bass sounds like giant’s steps 😊

Wonderful hearing you play this. I just hope you decide to dispense with any "dead" (non vibrato) notes. At any rate, this is really excellent.

It is precisely the "dead notes" as you call it that produce her exceptional phrasing, the unique way she sings. Not only are these dead notes beautiful, but without them the playing would become less lyrical and surprising.
