I've actually never heard of Hindemith before until I got the part from my flautist. This is a great rendition, I enjoyed listening to it.

This is the piece we're playing for our High School All State auditions. It's really difficult, and I'm a freshman, so it's kind of scary. My band director told me to find a recording of it, to help me learn it with the right emphasis and phrasing, so I found this, and it is really, really beautiful. :D Thank you for posting!!

I originally heard this piece when it was quoted in a Kraftwerk song (Tour De France) and I just had to find the original. This is a beautiful performance, from both you and the pianist.

This is the first one of a series of sonatas and all existing winds, which took more than 20 years to be completed. It is one of the most outstanding of the series.

It's a very popular piece. The score should be available at any reasonable classical music store but I doubt it would be available as a free download anywhere.

@@somedude6587 Paul Hindemith died in 1963, so his music entered public domain in Canada about a year after that comment. IMSLP is based in Canada, so you can download things that are public domain there, but it might still be copyrighted in the states/Europe.
