Hi Sir, I have a Moto Tv with optical audio output and a Sony Bravia 5.1 Home theatre( bit older). It has only RCA L/R input and One 3.5 mm Audio IN jack. My question: is there a way to hear a 5.1 CH with this setup, using any converter? Yes , convertors is an option, but not fully safe on voltage ⚡ fluctuations. I lost my Blu Ray player and tv mother board due a faulty converter used. @Mayur Ji, connecting cables will be safe option. Plus 3.5 mm - aux cable too wil be good choice too .. if interference can be avoided

In the tv sound settings please check that default sound output is selected as optical, also check in sound bar correct audio source is selected. Generally optical cable works well compared to hdmi arc in some tv models.

In some tvs you may get dolby atmos via netflix app even tv is not supported. Mostly new models like 2019 or newer. Many tv don't have dolby digital or atmos but can pass through dolby atmos through hdmi earc. If your soundbar has hdmi earc you can use hdmi 2.1 otherwise hdmi 2.0 will be ok.

hdmi earc is backward compatible with HDMI ARC, if you want to connect hdmi arc sound system than hdmi 1.4 version is enough. For dolby atmos sound system with hdmi earc you need hdmi 2.1 cable.

I think jio stb not support 5.1 channels for ott apps. However you can check audio out settings of stb by changing dolby digital and play any 5.1 channels movie song in prime or netflix

connect hdmi eARC port of tv with hdmi arc port of sound bar using hdmi cable. In the soundbar select input mode as hdmi arc not optical. Now in samsung tv follow the instructions as connection guide automatically give you option to select hdmi device as home theatre. Also ensure that in the tv sound settings sound output selected as hdmi arc. let me know after doing these steps. you can again restart your tv and sound bar when cable ia connected to search tv again your soundbar.

Optical to RCA converter ka issue lag raha hai, woofer me koi aur port nahi hai kya jaise hdmi arc aur optical. You need to test your converter by connecting another speaker aur soundbar to check what is the issue.

Disable hdmi cec in tv settings, unplug all the hdmi cables from tv, now connect only soundbar with hdmi arc port using hdmi cable. In tv sound settings select sound output as hdmi. Also change to check sound settings as pcm or non pcm other mode.

Thanks, I connected Airtel xstream box with sound bar using optical but it does not produce sound in default setting. I had to change in android setting under sound to None: Never use surround sound. Does this means I can not listen to surround sound? Also in Bluetooth option the sound coming from satellite speakers does not feel like surround sound but like normal sound coming from centre speakers? Please can you guide.

some times there are issues with connecting hdmi arc, you need to remove all the cables from tv than connect hdmi arc cable with hdmi arc port of tv to home theatre. Now restart tv and than home theatre. In TV check that output sound is set to hdmi arc. Now in home theatre select tv as input method.

But desktop hdd is large and will take more power so i doubt it will function properly also you need special adapter that require power and sata to usb connctor. Check that in ott apps like hotstar, zee5, netflix you are getting 5.1 channel logo on movies and audio tracks. Also check in tv audio settings dolby digital or dolby digital plus option checked in place of pcm. bluetooth and aux has low sound compared to hdmi arc in most of tv. but from mobile directly connect soundbar you will get good output over bluetooth
