Sir supplying compressed air is same as supplying heated air instead of normal air in the cylinder to shorten the ignition delay right ???

Supplying adiabatically compressed air will boost the performance and decrease the ignition delay , the use of supercharger in diesel engine does the same activity in diesel engine .

Thank you for this nice video...could you please explain more about Cetane number of fuel and Ignition delay. This is the only point which is not clear to me.Otherwise the explanation is superb.

+NARESH8575 you would have understood that lesser the ignition delay lesser the knocking tendency. Thus cetane number is an index which is analogous to the ignition delay of fuel . I.e. greater the cetane number ,smaller the chances the diesel engine to knock.

i dont understand hindi.... but i have a doubt.... i have read that autoignition temperature of petrol is higher than diesel, then why is SI engine is subjected to knocking at high temperature... why they cant be compressed to higher comp. ratio as CI engines

I have a doubt, As we know the efficiency of all reversible cycles operating between same temperature limits is same, Then for same temperature limits why we get different efficiencies for different reversible cycle, as we know we get maximum efficiency in case of Carnot cycle, Basically, I am asking- Are Otto and diesel reversible? if yes, then why we get efficiency of such cycle less than carnot cycle, Thanks 🙂
