Material is : PVC pipe Schedule 40, also known as Pressure Pipe: 60mm diameter, 3.5mm wall thickness. T-piece has 5mm wall thickness. Avoid buying weaker DWV (drainage waste vent) pipe which has a wall thickness of 1-2mm. Note if pipe is stated as 50mm or 2inch, this refers to the nominal diameter (like its minimal internal flow), not the outside. My fitting were 2inch (internal) schedule 40 pieces, but took a 60mm (outer) diameter pipe.
Much cheaper online, I recommend getting the fittings (T-pieces, elbows etc) from www.pipeonline.com.au (in Australia). It was about $95 delivered from Perth to Melbourne. Buy pipe length local as this is normally cheap
buy 'schedule 40' pipe and all 'schedule 40' fittings. do not buy anything DWV. i suggest buy the fittings online then take one of the fittings to the hardware store or local plumbing store and find the same pipe to fit inside

good vid. thx for sharing. Been looking at different setups to build one myself. I would have to say, if you rent a house and move houses every so often, this setup would be ideal, as its lightweight and easy to move. But instead of using something permanent like the pvc glue or liquid nails, use small self tappers at the joins, so if you do have to move house, it can be easily disassembled :)

This looks ideal for saving some space. I’m just getting back into racing since GT5 and a DFGT, I’m looking to get a rig built, I really like this setup. Do you really need glue?

Moin, you made a fine RIG there I'm more of a hobby at ACC at the Series X and just looked at what material had accumulated over the years. I built my RIG completely out of wood and this is what it looks like now. It only has to be filled and then painted black with orange accents. However, it has become quite massive (1.72 mx 1.20 m). I built in the Gamechair as only I am allowed to sit in it. So he didn't have to go on any rails. Unfortunately, the options on the XBox are very limited. I took the 3 vibrators + control from an old massage mat, screwed 2 of them into the seat and the third to the pedals. Connected via the subwoofer of the Gamechair. Not as optimal as on a PC, but the result is astonishingly good. Engine vibrations, curbs or gear changes are simulated well. I can proudly say that I have made something fantastic for me out of "junk in the basement". Except for a few corners, I had everything lying around. I think it's great when someone thinks about it and builds something for themselves. Anyone can buy ... 😄 Definitely a nice video of you with a great result. Here is a very short video of my RIG in its current state. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKakhXabbNlnjtU

Hey mate, another Australian. Thanks for the website link, looks a lot cheaper than other sites. I am little confused by your description. To confirm, was all your piping and fittings 50mm nominal diametre and of pressure fitting pvc?

From my research, Schedule 40 PVC is the same as Class 12 PVC in Australia, which is the standard PVC you get from Bunnings

Class 12 50mm PVC pipe is the stuff I am looking at doing my rig in. It shouldn't be an issue... I hope...

I think he may have used Class 12, 50mm PVC pipe guys (as per www.pipeonline.com.au/listProduct/PVC+PIPE/PRESSURE+PIPE//0). Class 12 50mm gives an overall diameter of 60mm, which seems to approximately match the specs he quoted. One concern though is that on the website I was looking at www.harvel.com/piping-systems/harvel-pvc-pipe/schedule-40-80/dimensions), 2" Sch 40 pipe has 10mm thickness. But Hugo says his is 3.5mm thick. Class 12,50mm is 3.35mm thick, and Class 18 is 4.95mm thick. Still, there is only $10 difference per 6m length of the stuff, so may as well go with the Class 18, IMO.

Looks like ps3, possibly 360. But rhd haha. Never seen that wheel before but I like the seat, someone made their own working hand brake for ps3. What'd all this cost vs buying one already done?

Hi mate I've looking at sourcing some PVC for the pvc racing plans on inside sim racing forums and noticed you've done the same and also from Australia. I'm just a little confused at what sized piping and fitting I should be using and where i should be sourcing from. I've looked online at the website you provided (piponline) just wondering if i should be using dwv fitting or the black high pressure fittings for the elbows and tee's. also if i'm to source the pipes locally should i go for schedule 40 pvc or conduit pipe? the pvc that was on display at bunning seemed filmy and easily bent. Hope you can shed some light on this for me. Cheers, Chris

Hey, little confused about the pipe you used... I'm looking online at bunnings and I cant seem to find any 60mm pressure pipe, its all 40mm with 50mm being the largest (yet bunnings call it pressure pipe as you described it).. I havent worked with PVC much before so could you help me out with a link to 60mm. thanks..

hey just make sure the pipe is thick walled, 3.5mm as i have said. the pipe is not measured on the outside, it is 'generally' measured on the internal diameter. try Masters hardware store as they had better stock than bunnings.

Wow nice work. So how rigid is the rig? Are you satisfied with its rigidity?
@legendlegoman
@legendlegoman 8 жыл бұрын
+grmnj yes its a really solid base. some squeeks with the pvc whilst your driving at worst. & making it in two sections so i can unbolt it left a little movement, but doesnt affect the driving. the main thing i found is that the wheel base feels solid. when its solid the wheel and its feel and force feedback is substantially better than say a wheelstand which i used previously.

+legendlegoman Ah cool. I was going to make something out of wood but your videos have inspired me to do something similar. I have a Thrustmaster T300 GTE and am trying to figure out how to handle the mounting point.

She's gone. sold it 2yr ago, to some dude who bought it for his employees to kick back on. but up till then it was rock solid. Any half decent wheel is a better experience than a controller, but controllers have their place when U want to take it easy
