You should really go read his story. It's quite amazing. Born into country royalty, started singing his deceased fathers music at 8 years old, did that until he was 18 then started singing his own stuff. Was met with huge opposition. Then he survived an od, then a 500 ft fall off a mountain. After recovery he went on to have an absolute legendary career.

The beard is to cover scars from where he fell off a mountain and almost died. Hank Williams Jr. is the man!
@rockinredneck573 жыл бұрын
This is all based on true stories. He started playing his daddy's music on stage at 8 years old, pushed hard by his mother. As a teen in the 60s he listened to rock and R&B and blues and later Southern Rock. He incorporated all of that into HIS style of music and fans rebelled, wanted him to sing his dad's songs forever. He said I'm doing my music my way or not at all. He did it his way and became a huge star in his own right. Check out some of Hank Jr.'s early songs Stoned at the Jukebox, and Standing in the Shadows they tell a story of his troubles as well.
@WaymoresBlues2 жыл бұрын
Two of Hank Jr's kids are also good singers themselves, his son Hank III and daughter Holly Williams. Her song 'Keep The Change' and Hank 3's 'Low Down' or 'Country Heroes' are good ones. They are keeping that family tradition alive.

1st, that is a slide steel guitar. Hank wears the shades and beard to cover scars he received when he fell 525 ft down the side of Ajax Mountain in 1975. His dad is a legend. He was part of the 1st class inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Hank Jr was inducted in August of this year. Other Hank Jr songs you will like Born to Boogie, All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight, Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound, Gonna Go Hunting Tonight just to name a few

There's a reason for the beard and sunglasses. They cover the scars from when he fell off a mountain, Mt Ajax, in 1975. He fell about 500 feet and last all his teeth, gums, and cracked his skull open! After that fall he really became a rebel against people wanting him to be exactly like his dad. Worked out very well for him.

Hank Williams Sr. was taught to play by an old blues man in Alabama called T Tot. He was also plagued with back troubles from a young age that led to self medicating with alcohol, and some say harder drugs. When Hank Jr. was three his dad passed away in the back seat of his car on the way to a New Years Eve show, at the age of 29. At this young age he had already written hundreds of songs. Hank Jr. wrote a tribute song to Mr. T Tot, I do believe it is on youtube.

Good reaction, it's nice to see someone trying something they're not familiar with and giving it an honest chance. You won't like all country songs, and you don't have to, no one likes all of them. A great country song tells a story that people can relate to, maybe not personally but they know someone it has, or they can see how it could relate to them. You will find some of the best guitar players in country music, because they play with a clean sound, so they have to hit every note, there's no distortion to cover up mistakes. Give a listen to Glen Campbell doing "Gentlle On My Mind", or Roy Clark in "Dueling Banjos", or he does "Folsom Prison Blues" with Johnny Cash. Some others to get to are George Jones' "The Grand Tour" and "White Lightnin'", or his duet "Golden Ring" with Tammy Wynette, also anything by George Strait, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and there are a lot more. Keep Listening, and thanks.
