Linda made Roy Orbison’s song, her very own. She could sing it all: rock, soul, opera, country, the American Songbook. A once in a lifetime performer, and beautiful. Once upon a time her backup band was The Eagles. When they wanted to go out on their own, she recorded one of their songs, “Desperado”. It was a huge hit and a spectacular send off to an amazing group.

I've never considered Linda as country. Blue Bayou was co-written by the great Roy Orbison & recorded/released by him in 1961. Like both versions and both artists, very unique, beautiful voices. Music of my younger days.

You are right Lou, Roy Orbison recorded blue bayou in 1961 but due to some studio execs snafu it wasn’t released until 1963, then Linda cut it in 1977 & released it on her “simple dreams” album. 🎶💕👍

Her family are prolific in their preservation and support of music through out Southern Arizona and have since before statehood. Her grandfather and great aunt founded the Tucson opera and symphony. Her family sings like many in that region in English and in Spanish. She is also one of the great patrons of young marachis and the preservation of marachi in the borderlands and world wide.

You may have heard of Linda Ronstadt when she teamed up with Emmy Lou Harris and Dolly Parton on an album called Trio. They did a song called Those Memories of You which might be the most beautiful harmony I have ever heard. The tune is very haunting but extremely beautiful. I would love to see you react to that song. Sadly, Linda is currently in the last stages of Parkinson's Disease. Linda, who is now 75 years old, said she cannot sit up at the table long enough to eat a meal and she has to eat a while and go lie down and then go back and eat some more. She cannot sit up, she cannot stand and perhaps the saddest thing of all is that she can no longer sing.
