Love the eagles I'm only 23. But thank God my parents grew up in the 70s and that's all the music I heard but there's two songs that always stood out to me apart from hotel. But I'm a Glenn Frey(fry) fan RIP. But the two songs are lyin eyes and peaceful easy feeling that's classic early eagles. THE SONG isn't about a hotel it's about the bad things fame can give if you go to California to chase your dreams. Drugs. And excess and failure and being stuck depressed and broke. Nothing about a hotel it's a metaphor. About LA is the beast that you can't kill

DH& I took great care of our kid's "Rock and Roll education". I was proud ( I did not say this to my son) when my granddaughter got in trouble for listening to music in class. The teacher asked her what was so important that she just HAD to listen to during class. She demanded that my granddaughter play the song for the whole class. Out came Meat Loaf singing "Paradise by the Dashboard Light". Whoops, just a little inappropriate for the classroom - I think she was 11. I was proud nonetheless.

This is an outstanding and iconic song, right up there with Bohemian Rhapsody and Stairway To Heaven. I remember hearing it when it first came out and being stunned by its depth, it is all that anybody was talking about for weeks. Joe Walsh is one of my favorite guitar players and I was so happy when he joined the Eagles band. He really tears it up on this performance along with the entire rest of the band.

Regarding album sales in the United States, this Eagles' collection of favorites and timeless classics remains No. 1. Spanning the Eagles' first four studio albums, it was the first to receive platinum status by the RIAA. The record also spent more than 230 weeks on the Billboard 200. Nope, the Capitol Center was in Landover, Maryland, about 20 minutes from where I live; at least, it was 22 years ago. Gone now.

Most Eagles videos are blocked but for some reason this one and one other live video I have seen have not been blocked. Capitol Center is in Maryland. I have read that the Hotel California is a metaphor for the corporate music machine where they wine you and dine you and then grind every bit of your soul out of you and still want more, they will even ply you with alcohol or drugs to get what they want from you. You are signed to a contract so you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave (they own you). There are many people trying to decide what the words of this song mean but the writers have never really said. It is called a double necked guitar. Sometimes a six string and a 12 string sometimes a differently tuned guitar.
@evanhughes15103 жыл бұрын
Songs by theEagles are very underrepresented in KZbin reactions, partly because so many of their songs are blocked when you try to search them on KZbin, and as a result, the Eagles many hit songs are being forgotten about and not being rediscovered by the younger generations/KZbin reactors

Realize the Hotel is actually an old adobe mission (sort of like the Alamo), that kind of appeared from out of no where…from off in the distance. The title of the video has the words “Hotel California” all out of focus, then gets clearer(as his car gets closer, and closer). When she greets him at the door, he says “heard the mission bell,”………….and then, “This could be Heaven or this could be Hell.”

This song is about speaking out against corruption, greed and hedonism of the music industry in the 70’s. They say it’s metaphorical. Don Henley was even quoted as saying they didn’t literally mean California, it’s all about being consumed by ego, absorbed by pleasure and self-righteousness.

The text is a surreal search for a tired traveler who checks into a luxury hotel. The hotel seems tempting at first, but seems to be a nightmare city where "you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave" (you can check out at any time, but never leave). The song is an allegory of hedonism, self-destruction and greed in the music industry in the late 1970s. Don Henley called it "our interpretation of upper-class life in Los Angeles" and later added: "It is essentially a song about the dark abdomen of the American dream and about extravagant life in America, which is something we know well."
