He had at least one song in the USA top 40 every year from 1970-2002, many of which were #1 or top ten, twenty and then has appeared in the top ten since then. Last 2 were #1 in 2021 with Dua Lipa and 2022 with Britney Spears. He’s the first artist with a number one over 6 decades.

I was sooo blessed to see him on his farewell tour.. it was absolutely undescribable!!!!❤❤ he made 10s of thousands of our crowd stand to their feet nearly the whole 3.5 hr show. He was funny, professional, wanted it to be perfection, nothing less, veryyyyy grateful to the USA and just sooooo wonderful to us all as his fans. The movie about him that came out a few years back (rocketman) is great.

Elton served his apprenticeship in the London pubs and clubs in 1960s. His big hits started about 1970.

Both Bernie Taupin and Elton John said that if they had to do it over again they would not have written this song. They didn't think much of the song and thought of it as filler until it became a massive hit. Now Elton plays this in all of his concerts.
