"sunshine in a bag" is typically understood to be referring to weed. As for seeing them "live", you kinda do and you kinda don't. Gorillaz is a virtual band, so they don't have real members exactly. The closest comparisons would be something like Josie & The Pussycats or Dethklock or Prozzak. (Prozzak isn't as well known outside of Canada). The core idea of Gorillaz was basically a collaboration between one musician and one artist. They just invented the members of the band like a cartoonist would invent cartoon characters. They don't stand for anyone. They are just works of fiction. The artist drew what they look like and directs the aesthetic of the videos and such, while the Damon Albarn writes their music either by himself or in collaboration with a whole parade of other artists. It's musical theater that any artist can take part in. When they perform live, Damon Albarn is usually there, but the other musicians can be just anyone, or sometimes one of the artists who did a collab will show up, like I know De La Soul has actually shown up to those before. Del the funky homosapian is the original rapper on Clint Eastwood, but I know snoop did that part at a few live shows. But usually they will just project huge 3D images of the fictional band members onto the stage and have them "perform". The music is still being played live by musicians, but besides Damon, the other musicians could kinda be anybody since "the band" is a fictional cartoon. The huge advantage to all of this is that Gorillaz could keep going for 60 years because "the band" never ages, and since they do so many collabs, their music evolves with the times.

Happiness/Sunshine in a bag is most likely eluding to alcohol, or drugs. I've been bumping this song for 25 years, and never really thought about it until you brought up the lyrics. I've just always liked the vibe of the song.

The way i understand is you still dont see them live. You see the Gorillaz, but they play live off stage. Havent had the chance live, but what ii remember being told.
