This is an iconic 90's song. It really captures that era... not nihilistic, but more a sense of null fatalism. As if many things matter, but they are beyond your grasp or influence. A surrender to apathy doesn't feel like surrender at all, because you just don't care. That's kind of a running theme in the genre at the time. STP was pretty good at evoking that in many of their songs.

Great pick for an STP track. Despite not being from Seattle, these guys are widely considered to be grunge by just about everyone (except themselves, but then I'm finding out that most 'grunge' artists hated the label). If you want to hear them at their most "grungy" take a listen to "Plush." If you want to hear something with a bit more southern rock twang, give my personal favorite, "Interstate Love Song," a try.

Ohhhh such a great song. There is the 90's "Creep Trifecta" - three great bands all with big hits entitled "Creep" that are all TOTALLY different from each other - Stone Temple Pilots, Radiohead, and TLC :)

You should check out their song "Dead & Bloated" also from the "Core" album released in 1992 a month after I turned 22. I was a young Marine stationed 30 minutes south of Los Angeles at the time. What a great time it was

A lot of thier songs hold up to many many listens. Sometimes i get bored of the old, but they always do so great at establishing a mood or atmosphere , it hooks me. One weird one that doesn't get mentioned but has a uniquely addictive quality is "SOUR GIRL". Its not my fav STP song but it is good in a different way than the rest. Another band in this genre that came in the 80s was JANES ADDICTION. Thier album "NOTHING SHOCKING" has some stuff youd enjoy "MOUNTAIN SONG" being my favorite off the album.

Please react to Stone Temple Pilots song "Interstate Love Song". This is considered their signature song by most, and a quintessential '90s song. It was about his battle with with drugs and coping with accountability to his woman.

STP is sollid. I love how they take their time with this song. Really playing into the emotion and powering the gentle delivery. Not my favorite, but they know how to put together a great song.

They did grunge their own way and I was always pretty impressed. There was a lot of pressure to put out certain kinds of songs but they kinda said fu and did what they wanted to. It’s like nirvana, but not. It’s like soundgarden, but not, Pearl Jam, but not. And then there’s this odd little puckish funk vibe to their later stuff. Not a lot of artifice, just great guitar rock

Great band that wrote solid popular songs. However, out of all the grunge bands, I find them to be the least creative and innovative-- just my personal opinion. Again, that is not to put them down, they were still a solid band and I saw them live twice. I'm enjoying your reactions btw!
@keithferris95742 жыл бұрын
Huh. I think they're extremely creative. Geniuses actually. The bass player alone is a musical force, as is his brother the guitarist. Very influential riff writers.

I think you misinterpreted what he said. the section of this video where he's wearing the pink shirt is the recording from the twitch livestream where he listened to the track for the first time. then afterwards he added the song to his playlist and listened to it more. then he recorded the intro part of the video in the black shirt and uploaded it all to youtube. he hadn't heard the track at all prior to this week.

@@divid3d Exactly, his first listen to this track was during the Twitch livestream. I would encourage people to join the Twitch livestream. Syed takes requests, besides his great analysis, you also get to hear others in the chat give their take. Lots of smart people in that chat. And there is always a laugh or two, so it's fun and intellectually stimulating.
