Green Day have been well overdue on this channel. They have been suggested so much since I first reacted to this kind of music. I don't really know what genre of music I would put Green Day under but I can definitely pick out so many other bands that have a similar sound. I decided to go with Basket Case today as it seems like it is one of Green Day's popular songs. Anyway, you know the drill by now, if you have any information about Green Day that you want to throw at me then please do so in the comments. I love reading all of your comments! Also send me some more Green Day songs I need to hear, I am hoping they have plenty more that are similar to Basket Case.
Here is my reaction to hearing Green Day - Basket Case for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!
I AM CURRENTLY CHANGING MY PO BOX ADDRESS AS THE COMPANY I WAS USING ARE NOT BEING PROFESSIONAL. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ANYTHING UNTIL THERE IS A NEW ADDRESS IN VIDEO DESCRIPTIONS. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!

I bought the Greenday CD called Dookie in 1994 and played it over and over and now I am 50 years old and I still play it over and over. I would classify Greenday as Pop Punk

Absolutely LOVE Blink-182, but they really didn't hit until '99, prompting a slew of similiars in the early oughts like Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, and other bands with names that are way too long 😂

These guys. Totally kickass. Geez, I was 30 then, married, 2 young sons. Their sound picks up influences from early punk rock scene, The Ramones, other sub genres, but there's so much more to their vibe. This tempo and the percussion, wow. 🤌

as a skateboarder from about 1987 onward, we knew about green day a good few years before they "broke" & hit the big time in 1994...this album was released in feb 94 but it really blew up a few months later after the news of kurt cobain killing himself, there was this hge kind of hole for everyone....then green day's dookie album fully arrived in april, may, just as school was letting out (my senior year, 1994, the end of hugh school for me, big year, i remember it like it was yesterday) & green day was really huge, they were good music & it filled the void....it was labeled very poppy punk, but, to my mind it an extension of all tne skate rock that had been coming out of california for years at that point: NOFX, pennywise, bad religion (i dont think they were all californians), but still, i liked green day, especially this album that kind of "saved" the summer of 94 for a lot of people.....i didnt like the bands that came up in the wake of green day tho, all the stuff that was record industry cashing in, offspring, blink 182....thats just my opinion tho & it worthless....i have a few friends these days who are 10 years younger than me who love blink 182, so, ...idk, i have no opnion, just pointing out that if grunge started with nirvana, & was kind of dealt its first death blow by kurt's suicide, green day was the first appearance of this new type of "punk" that sort of took over quite a bit after that......grunge didnt die overnight, it took years, maybe until 200 until people got fully sick of it with the band creed, but, green day was a def a little bit of a shift in 90's culture, which imo, was just the rise of the whole underground cali skate rock, pop punk sound

Right after Nirvana, the scene were all grunge; Offspring and then just a little later came Greenday. This two were really good at the beginning(mid-90s). Then music and everything started to change in a more "alternative" way which also intoxicated these bands as well (2000s).

Most people tend to put them into either pop or punk or some sort of Pop/Punk hybrid. They are more melodic than "pure" punk and can play their instruments better, but they are also heavier than pop and usually play at much faster tempos than pop. A great band. "American Idiot" is an awesome album to dive into as well.

My dad bought 'Dookie' on cassette tape in 1994. When he picked me up from school, I vividly remember hearing 'Basket Case' for the first time in the car and feeling oddly awe struck on the way home. I didn't really like admitting to enjoying any type of music, or identifying with any style in general at the time (only 8 years old); but as soon as I started listening to Dookie, sifting through the album art, it was the first album I could truly identify with both the songs and the art style. Core foundations that made me a drummer and a photographer that I am today. Great memories. I know the song is short, but I am certain you will enjoy the rest of the album!

I had the pleasure of being at the concert at which the album Bullet in a Bible was recorded at the Milton Keynes Bowl there were more than 130,000 people there and there is a live DVD of it, they are a fantastic band live and invited young musicians on the stage then gifted them instruments, I felt sorry for the drummer who only got drumsticks while the others got guitars. Amazing day with quite a few other bands playing before Green Day.

Been 3,000 miles visiting twin granddaughters on their 8th birthdays. Trying to catch up on your reactions. I love Green Day. Love this one like all of your reactions. They’re in their 50s now but still rock it with their unique sound. In the mid 2000s, the leader singer/guitarist/and music & lyric creator, Billy Joe Armstrong (considered one of best punk guitarist), compiled Green Day’s songs into a musical “American Idiot” that played to rave reviews for a year on Broadway in New York City. He and his 2 bandmates are from the Bay Area in Northern California just like I am. They’re another rabbit whole for you to go down. Love from one of your California grandmas. ❤️

Saw Greenday in concert in Bonner Springs, Ks this past August. They played for almost 3 hours with virtually no break. Fantastic! I’m 69 and my son got me hooked on them when he brought home the Dookie CD in 1994. He actually bought the concert tickets for me for Father’s Day.

I just went to Green Day’s Concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of this album “ Dookie” and 20 year anniversary of “ American Idiot” album where they played the whole albums! The Smashing Pumpkins played as well celebrating their 30th anniversary of their double album “ Mellon collie and the Infinite Sadness”, a great album as well… Dookie is a classic album there’s non” skip” songs on it you can listen to the whole thing. Great Concert! It was about a 6 hour concert… 4 bands.. the Linda-Linda’s, Rancid ( classic punk band), Smashing Pumpkins ( always rock the house), and of course Green Day ( kicked ass) had a great show.. played like they are still in their 20’s it’s amazing to witness! Definitely go down the Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins rabbit hole!

Oh, I could give you ALL the information 😂 I was so obsessed with them in the 90s. My town just gave them the keys to the city, there was a plaque & a mural at the 7-11 (center of the earth in the parking lot of the 7-11) the plaque got stolen like the next day & they painted over the mural (that the members signed) that was the coolest thing this town ever had! My older sister is just a year younger than Billie so they went to Pinole Valley High School at the same time.

I still vividly remember the first time I heard this. My brothers best friend had a copy of Dookie on tape (yes I am old) and I went past his room while they were listening to it. I was hooked immediately and he kindly lent me the tape to copy. I listened to it so much I wore it out. Go deep in to the rabbit hole on this one. You will not be sorry.

Here we go! There are DOZENS of great songs from Green Day! This is just the tip of the iceberg! While definitely rock, they've generally been classified as "pop-punk" or alternative rock. Can't wait to see where THIS journey takes you! Also - as someone with interest in learning guitar, songs like this one would be right up your alley to learn to play them. All power chords, and not many of them. Very, very easy to play, as is most of their stuff - just like The Offspring. Especially if you just want to rip through a heavy-ish song just rocking that rhythm first part, this is a GREAT place to start!

Lol! I am loving watching your reaction. I am at your first rewind and I’m betting that this will be my favorite of your videos. I knew that you would love Greenday, especially after watching your Offspring reactions! Also in this genre you should check out Blink182 and My Own Worst Enemy by Lit. I love the energy from this type of music.
