Thegrandkru I'm 36 bro radio wasn't always like it is now. From the 80s to the late 90s they mostly played stuff like this and artist like lupe. I hear what you're saying though. Radio had always played crowd friendly music to dumb people down. Back then though the popular thing was to be conscious and set trends with creativity.

rapidryu I do think that, and I'm not crazy. It's my opinion, I've listened to all of his songs and this one is in MY OPINION his best written song. I don't care if you think his other work is higher level. I've been listening to lupe since the cool, heard every song he's ever written. Just because I like a song better than his others that you don't think is better doesn't mean I'm not a lupe fan. Not everyone is crazy who doesn't have the same opinion as you.

Monta J oh so since I started at the Cool it's impossible to go back and listen to Food and Liquor? What do I have to have heard since he picked up the pen to right his first song? I've heard food and liquor, I've heard everything after. Not JUST after the cool. And after listening to every ONE of his songs, this is his best written in MY OPINION. What do y'all don't get about MY opinion being MY opinion, I know you have your own, don't come on here and bash mine just because it isn't the same as yours.

Sargent-Watrous I'm actually 16. I don't understand how they are "questioning" me. It's not like I said something that needs a source or I need evidence to back up. All they're doing is wasting their time trying to tell me that my opinion is wrong. All I did was make a statement that doesn't harm anyone, isn't degrading or demeaning, just a single comment that was my opinion. You people on the internet seem to forget how an opinion works. Everyone has one, and when two people try to come up and tell me that mine is wrong just because it isn't the same as theirs, I'm going to remind them how an opinion works. In fact since I'm "two", and you're obviously older than me, it's kind of sad that you're not mature enough to know how it works either.

I slept on Lupe Fiasco for too many years. From 2011 - 2012 Hip-Hop basically had a dark ages to the point that Nas called Hip-Hop dead. There were actually loads of good underground rappers but most of the mainstream was wack wack wack. Until about 2012 when TDE, Pro Era and Slaughterhouse started to come out of the underground and make some noise Hip-Hop was becoming embarrassing for anyone who saw Hip-Hop in the 90s. Rappers weren't lyrical, and beats were trash. Unfortunately for me all I heard from Lupe was his first hit Kick-Push whcih was actually alright, but didn't excite me more than that so I slept on him. My mistake, wasn't til Tetsuo and Youth that I realised how crazy talented this dude is. Mural is one of the dopest tracks of the year. But yeah this is dope to, Hip-Hop Saved My Life has depth, lyrical artists got slept on during the 'dark ages' and I'm sad to say I was sleeping too.
@HeelBJC9 жыл бұрын
ToroidalVortexLove I don't know what you're talking about. First of all, something isn't a dark "age" if it is literally a year long. The fact that you can make any assumption about that time period baffles me. Secondly, Nas claimed that Hip-Hop was dead in 2006, far before this "dark age" that you claim. Lastly, the years that you described were FAR from a "dark" period in Hip-Hop. Kendrick burst onto the scene in 11 with Section.80 and had one of the best rap albums of the 2000s with Good Kid Maad City. J-Cole made a great record in 2011 along with Lasers from Lupe. In 2012 Future released a great album in Pluto, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul dropped their new records, and of course we can't forget about Nas with "Life Is Good", which ended up being a great album. You are simply wrong.

TheMichiganfan97 chillout bro he made a lot of great points even if his dates werent right. he recognized hip hop being in the dark ages within a period of what youre saying is fact. even tho its all subjective. dont get mad over music slow your role bud

murkawicz While he may have been correct about Hip-Hop Being in a slump, him using a 2006 Nas album to prove a dead era that he claims is in 2011-2012 is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. ALSO, just because what they play on the radio is shit does not make Hip Hop dead, as I clearly pointed out that there were several good-great albums in that period.

oops, I meant 2001 - 2012, not 2011 - 12.

TheMichiganfan97 That's just one year, I meant 2001 - 2012, I mean a shit decade, not a shit year. And I agree just because what they play on the radio is shit does not make Hip Hop dead, I actually already said "There were actually loads of good underground rappers but most of the mainstream was wack wack wack." So I was strictly talking about mainstream rap music.
