This is the video that healed some very chronic hip and nerve issues for me. Do these exercises religiously, and if this is your issue, you will find healing. This was about a year ago for me now and I could barley walk without everything tightening up to the point of pretty severe pain. Here I am a year later, no surgery, and pretty much 100% back. Love it

Thank you! I just got results from a 3T MRI and found out this is what I have, a hip impingement and linear tear of my acetabulum labrum. Do you recommend stationary cycling? I’m seeing my hip PT next week and curious your take. I look forward to trying these. There is additional blunting and degeneration of the anterior aspect of my superior labrum. I highly recommend this 3T imaging. It took 15 months to finally get an accurate diagnosis for me, being in pain or discomfort nearly every day.

@@urvashib26 Have you been going to PT? That can help. It's helped my pain go down and they say I'm not a good candidate for surgery because I've struggled rehabbing a shoulder injury for sometime (also being in the middle area for being a good-bad candidate). Hope the shot helps you and you find relief in general. PT has be working on getting my glutei stronger. It's still a lot of work with a lacrosse ball for lots of tight/painful muscles and I get dry needling done weekly fortunately to manage the symptoms.

I had been going to PT for months before the diagnosis but the pain would be back as soon as I tried to increase the activity a bit and then transitioned to continuous pain where I can't walk or bike even half a mile. Will be going to PT for a month again and then go for the shot. I wish there was a way people could get diagnosed faster rather than waiting and speculating for months and years and the condition worsening!

Hi doctor!.... when I train usually do some soft stretching, workout and a more deep stretching at the end..... Is that ok with an Hip Impingement? because I see in this video is the opposite. And a second question, can a person with hip impingement continue practising splits after the pain has resolved? or that can aggravate things? Thanks in advanced.

how can you fix FAI when there is extra bone grew on the acetabular?
@AskDoctorJo
@AskDoctorJo 6 жыл бұрын
It can be a deformity at the acetabulum or the femur, but that is not usually the problem, it is the result of the problem. These often form from imbalances causing rubbing because the joint is not moving how it's suppose to. If you can correct the imbalances with proper stretches and exercises, it no longer continues to cause damage.

Also when i do hip extension i always put a pillow under my belly because i do lower back extension and it hurts my back. So I was diagnosed with impingement in both hips. I need to start therapy but with the pandemic it is hard. When walking it does not hurt as much unless I sat down too long or I walk for a long period of time. What hurts more is trying to sit with my legs crossed and intercourse😥. Will these exercises not only help with pain but also help with hip flexor and legs stretch a little more? It’s also embarrassing that I can’t do some of the stuff a personal trainer wants me to do 😭 I also have knock knees that I am sure doesn't help at all

It is normal to feel a little pain in the 2 streching exercice in the groin when streching the leg to the side and also when lifting the left leg ir hurts in the frontal hip zone on the right leg (the one that hurts) that its laying down before streching it to the side

Super helpful ~ question of the day. Is a posterior ischiofemoral impingement the same as a hip impingement or FAI?
@AskDoctorJo
@AskDoctorJo Жыл бұрын
It's still an impingement, but it's in a different area than an FAI.

Thanks. Sorry to hear that. Many exercises can be modified specifically for you. If you can go see a physical therapist for an evaluation, they should be able to help with that.

Hey Dr. Jo ❤️ what about when the figure 4 stretch and butterfly stretch creates a pinch in the crease of the groin and hip on the inside of the leg? My X-ray says os acetabuli, not sure if that info helps. Hope to hear from you! ❤️

I have pain that starts in groin and ends in the right knee AFTER my runs. I know my right leg is longer than the other. First thought it was psoas (had that happen to the left leg) but now I think its inpingment or FAI. The pain goes away after about a week. Since then I've stopped running completely. Been doing these stretches and various other hip stretches/exercises for 2 months pain occured 3 months ago. I tried switching shoes, using orthotics, etc still painful. I hope I can run again someday 🥲🥺

You're welcome, and thanks for subscribing. Sometimes you can adjust the seat higher, and it won't impinge as much, but generally if it's painful, it's probably worth trying something else.

Dr Jo, when I lie on my back and try to bring my left knee straight back up to my chest, I feel a pinch and I cannot continue. I can bring my left knee back up toward my chest if I go more lateral with no problem. Is that hip impingement, because it feels like something is getting pinched. Thank you for all your videos!

I started doing your recommended stretching/exercises yesterday for my knees and I'll be adding them in from this video too. I love lifting weights, cycling, and running but cannot do any of those right now due to pain and discomfort. Thank you for your content it is greatly appreciated!
