Thanks for this video! I have a bad habit of crossing my legs tightly for long periods of time. All 3 areas you mentioned are where I have experienced some mild pain. I’ve been keeping my legs uncrossed for a few days and already feel less strained. I loved the diagram, exactly what I was looking for.

I have been having knee issues recently where I don’t feel any pain twisting my knee or bending it or walking but there is extreme soreness when I cross my legs and sometimes when I kneel down. What might be the issue since I can walk pretty ok and can jump like normal too? Love the use of the anatomical program in the vid
@AwBoonWei
@AwBoonWei 3 жыл бұрын
Hey there, it's good that you picked it up early. Many different things can happen, and this usually starts off with this soreness you mention. Most people ignore because it's not painful. I suggest having someone in the physio / strength and conditioning / pilate who knows their stuff have a look at it. It's most likely a combination of stiffness and weakness around the knee causing it. But do have it check to be sure. Take care mate!

I have a really tight hip on the lateral side on my left leg when sitting like this. i roll my TFL and glutes on a ball and then the pain goes away. but if i go to another stretch and back to sitting cross legged the pinching/tight sensation comes back. should I be doing something else? I know its not always the same for everyone and its sorta complex like you said but maybe the fact I can get ride of the pain momentarily says something?

Hi! If I try to sit cross legged, there is a tightness in my inner hip whereby I can't push downward on my knee (to make it touch the floor) on one side only. Never had it before. However, I've been doing a lot of running over the past 3 years. I think this started a few months ago where I couldn't rotate my leg even slightly off axis (other than straight ahead) for fear of searing pain in the joint, since then I have learnt to manipulate it to click and that seems to offer relief but I'm not sure. I'm having a tough time finding any information online about it. I'm trying to do stretching exercises but not sure if it's damaging or helping. Any ideas? Or shall I just bite the bullet and see a physio?
@AwBoonWei
@AwBoonWei 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely encourage you to see a physio and share what you shared with me. Here's why: With the runs over the past 3 years, tension could built up, muscles may have compensated, running gait could contribute to this issue, appropriate strength and conditioning, recovery work after runs These are all possible reasons after seeing many patients. Feels better after clicking This is very similar to chiropractors 'cracking' to get some relief. It is helpful, but it sounds like it didn't get to the root of the problem. Stretching exercise I too have no idea. Hence I seldom recommend any exercises when I make videos. Because of individual conditions, and also the way the exercises can be done it can sometimes cause harm. At this point it sounds very much musculoskeletal, which in my opinion is easiest to get it sorted out. Take care, and I hope this answers your question. Cheers!

I have pain just on just one side sitting cross-legged (had a lumbar herniation surgery in June, and the facet joints burned 4 weeks ago and thought the surgery might help that part too) That hasn't changed and it starts to spasm at the hip flexor and up the side/oblique area. I am not sure what to do and could always sit like that no problem. thank you
@AwBoonWei
@AwBoonWei 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Liv, if I understand what you are saying, you meant you don't have any issues sitting in this manner, but spasm around the hip flexor. Your condition is slightly more complex as it involves the nerve (which gives the burning sensation that you are having), the spine, and hip flexor group muscles. I could only suspect mainly the hip flexor group as the culprit because of the spasm. Other than stretching them, try finding out the reason how you tire them, or stress them, which usually causes spasms. I hope this helps.

hi there, thanks for the question. my advise is to go back to your physio and have it checked. if you haven't watch the video, please do so. you will notice that there are many parts of the body involved. without a proper check, it would not be possible for me to know what's causing the pain and what you can or cannot do. please take care.

How to improve this condition. What are best exercises for this problem?
@AwBoonWei
@AwBoonWei 3 жыл бұрын
hi there, you are in the right direction in search of exercises. However, everyone's condition is different. If you have searched for and came here, I won't be surprised. The reason is that no one knows exactly what you may be suffering from. Symptoms may be similar, and hence i'm listing the possible reasons. There is no best exercise. There is a set of custom exercises that you should get when you visit a physio, provided properly diagnosed. I hope this helps.

When I sit and going to stand up my legs won't give me the strength to rise up. Also I have a bad knee (right leg) problem. Why it's happening and what I should do?
@AwBoonWei
@AwBoonWei 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for sharing. Sounds like a strength issue. We humans lose strength if we don't train or maintain, which brings us back to exercise. With regards to the bad knee, I guess you mean pain. I suggest that you see a physio to fix the pain, and work your way back to regain the strength. PS. This takes time. Be patient.

hi there, while it's good to be precise as to where the area is feeling the pain. however, do be open to the structures around the SI joint that may contribute to the pain. it also helps you if you are doing more research around that area.

@@rajindernijjer there is also a possibility with habitual and behavioral causes to the pain. i.e. how you sit, how you move, what you do throughout the day, etc. Sometimes it's hard to find out the causes, and the focus is only on the pain rather than the cause. just adding on, there is also something called referred pain, where you may feel the pain in the SI joint, but it's caused by something/somewhere else.
