I'm designing my post frame right now and learning how to use sketchup at the same time. I love how you did that free standing upstairs loft. I am doing that same thing but will turn it into an apartment and utilize half of the space below the apartment as a game room for pinball machines, bar, billiards and a lounge area. I'm not going to use the truss system that you use. I'm going to make a timber frame roof structure with exposed beams in a vaulted ceiling. I'd love to be able to send you a photo of it at key points in the build if that's available.

Seeing some new details that have me asking questions. I really like the new z trim detail. The question is if water or condensation gets in, how does it get out when you seal around the bottom with butyl tape. Shouldn't a small void in the tape be left at the very bottom?

I’ve been a custom home design / builder for 40 years…I am addicted to your videos…your attention to detail is amazing and I learn something new from every video…your worker is phenomenal as well!…I have a question- in the main roof you installed the Smartside fascia boards before the metal roofing drip edge….but on the porch you installed your metal trim tight to the sub-fascia…are you covering the sub-fascia with bent aluminum coil stock?

actually we never installed the smartside on the main roof fascia until all roof was done and spaced with a piece of legacy subfloor...we did the exact same thing on the porch roof. might have missed it when watching

Tell you what the porch did turn out really nice and I like the way you do those caps with no attached fasteners especially down at the line that’s a little bit of OCD but it’s well worth it in the end. It’s gonna be gorgeous.!!! question are you going to be in track of just material costs and an approximate how many hours you spent on this?
