If you have noticed he pronounces the word 'idea' as ' I-DE-A' ( e de ya) greek word ‘ιδέα’ which translates into ‘aspect, appearance, from’ and it was actually firstly used by Plato on the Theory of Forms..... And this theory of forms is what this album/Title song is based on according to what taemin said... ⭕Some things to help you out 👇 : (combined from what MV director said he discussed with taemin and what taemin himself said in his vlive) ✴ The MV director went on live and explained a few things... The white bar which he enters in the beginning and dances' is heaven but taemin went there even though he is undead (meaning alive) so all the beings in heaven(people with their faces painted) were looking at him strangely in the scene where he enters that bar... ✴During the forest scene, u can see him searching for his self everywhere (this is same forest he was lost in 'criminal' phtoshoots & MV - after being lost & held prisoner to himself previously, in this MV he is searching for a way out) ✴Fun fact : did you realize the choreo started at the same pose he ended 'criminal ' on? ✴Also if you notice nearing the end of the MV in the scene with him sitting in that jail(place where someone meets the criminals and talks over phone) there is only 1 of him, where as initially in the MV there were 2 of him (he is present on both sides - criminal and someone who came to visit - again connects to 2 taemins ACT 1) ✴After he is seen in heaven, he has flashes of hell too... The way he was shaking his head and stuff(in his white crop top costume after the first dance break - during face close up shots) that is when he is confused of where he is supposed to be - this he said during vlive... ✴After this comes the staircase & blue suit part, which is the place inbetween heaven and hell. ✴Nearing the end of the MV he is in a space somewhere between heaven and hell after breaking off his shackles (artistically shown by all the dancers who were holding him at the end, broke off and fell down - meaning he is peaceful with the place he found in himself/ for himself) ⭕So to connect both 'criminal' and 'idea' it's basically - in criminal he is a prisoner to himself and develops Stockholm syndrome and starts liking the prison he made for himself - in idea initially he is still in prison, then he is trying to break out of it and 'find himself', first he goes to heaven, then gets flashes of hell, because of this he is confused but finally settles in a place midway to heaven and hell after breaking loose of whatever is holding him back... Thus 'he has opened his eyes to the new world' (the actual lyrics of the last line in the song)

One thing I adore about Taemin is being a story teller. Past obvious beautiful visual and a handsome guy he has such craft. Throughout idea you see the background people coming and going throughout his head, his idea and creations. At the end he states "opening my eyes" and they all fall away. He has such a precision and balanced way with his videos. I also love the, and this is probably an inappropriate way of describing it, the 'Egyptian' type feel, even the way ideeee ahhhh repeats along with a lot of sensual head movements and body rolls, he almost made it feel cult/god like. Taemin is just amazing all around.

This may be a bit shallow of me but what kept getting my attention were his clothes! That jacket, jeans and high boots in the beginning! The all white and then that ice blue suit at the end! The feathers on the dancers! This entire video was just excellent.

All I could say after seeing this is "Damn Taemin! Go Boy!" This was so amazing. Check out one of his live performances of his song "Black Rose." I wish there did a video for that song because both the song and choreography are great.

Yes you’re back with another Taemin reaction! I have to say IDEA shook me to the core - I never expected him to release such title track, this intense, with such a heavy base and very strong choreography (different from his usual, fluid, signature style - it’s still fluid, but also much stronger, if that makes sense...). Also the song structure is very unique - it’s like the song is somehow fickle - light one moment and heavy/dark the next. I wasn’t sure whether it’s my jam at first, but I couldn’t resist its catchiness, it just got stuck in my head and now it’s living there rent free, lol. I love the whole concept - the lyrics and how it’s all portrayed in the MV through his dancing and storytelling. Argh, once again Taemin proves he is an incredible artist, with strong, intriguing vision!

Okay now I'm saying more: I was listening to Taemin's album and I really think he has expanded vocally, not a vocal expert by any means but he sounds so strong and wider range. The dancing on the bar counter was the highlight for me. How fierce do you have to be to dance on an all white surface?! The dance practice, like you've said you miss stuff that is excluded in the MV and within that he makes subtle changes like a arm gesture or a direction choice in the moment. I was hype watching that last dance sequence how he isolated the smallest to full body arching to the ground in whats called a "high release". One of a kind. And can I mention how his feet seem to dance by themselves, independently from the rest of his body yet compliment everything else!

As you may know, "Idea" is part of Taemin's 3rd Korean solo album called Never Gonna Dance Again. It is part of a trilogy which started with his prologue "2 Kids," and continued with "Criminal" which is part of Act 1 of the album. "Idea" is part of Act 2 of the album and it brings the whole concept full circle. As Taemin said in an interview: "The two acts put together tell a story. '2 Kids’ is about growing pains and depicts the story prior to the story in the album. You can think of '2 Kids' as a teaser before the movie called 'Never Gonna Dance Again.' Act 1 shows a new side of me. I think it’ll be something you’ve never seen in K-pop before. And Act 2 is the end-all-be-all. It’s the ultimate level of intensity. Never Gonna Dance Again’ was originally the name of the concept. Because it doesn’t make sense for me to stop dancing. But I wanted to give a sense of rebellion with the irony of the title.” Some have said, and I have to agree, that "Idea" is a metaphor for the way Taemin sees his career. He loves what he does, almost to the point of obsession -- like "my messiah" he is drawn to it and can't help worship it -- he practically needs to dance and perform to survive. But, at the same time, it pretty much controls his life and living as an Idol means everything he does is done in the public eye and he will never be able to live a normal life -- his "dangerous dream" that is engulfing him and "swallowing him" up. The stress and constant demand for perfection he feels may be slowly "Killing me softly," etc. I particularly like the verse in "Idea" that says, "The blue light, When you and I face each other, Stained in it, All one's feelings, It's an infinite range, In my world, Most dazzling,The absolute value of you, My my IDEA." These lines seem to be talking about Taemin's fans. SHINee's fan color is pearl aqua blue, so the blue light you see in the MV and the blue light he talks about in the lyrics of "Idea," makes me think he is referring to the impact and influence the fans have had on everything he has done in his career. And although he loves and appreciates us, it has not come without a few sacrifices and negative aspects as well. The mutual love and respect between Taemin and the fans also has added a lot of extra pressure on him because he always wants to give people his absolute best and he is constantly trying to live up to an impossible standard of self-imposed flawlessness. So with every release from this album, the concept was designed to be darker then the last. In "2 Kids" he was emotionally and physically beating himself up with regrets and in "Criminal" he was living in a toxic relationship and being brainwashed to the point he was suffering from stockholm syndrome; he fell in love with the person (or thing -- i.e. his career) who is essentially inflicting all the pain and suffering on him. So in other words, even though you are being abused by that person (possibly a metaphor for the pressure he is creating for himself) he still can't help but love them (his career) and allow them to continue to hurt you, etc. :D "Idea" takes the theme one step further, and says that even though it was my idea and my plan to live this life, nothing comes without a price, and because of that need for perfection, any chance of being average or living a regular life is pretty much dead. Taemin has sacrificed everything to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard then himself. Taemin has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee -- he started with SM Entertainment when he was around 11 years old -- and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. The thing that he hates the most is when people assume he has had it easy because he is part of a big and powerful company and he is so naturally talented. As he has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Fun fact: The female voice you hear in "Idea " is BoA. She is a solo artist also under SM Entertainment, and she is Taemin's highly respected senior who debuted with SM in 2000 at the age of 13 and, now after 20 years, she is known as one of the senior-most members of the industry. BoA is legend. To see what kind of influence BoA has had on the industry and why it is so fitting that she was included on this song, check out her recent "202020" documentary. Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Idea," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, as you know, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him.

I know everyone has their own views on this; here’s mine 🤯 I dont even know where to begin with my thoughts, so much going on in the MV opens up of him meeting with himself in jail, so many scene changes, dooming us by having BOA saying “Killing Me Softly” 👻 and Don’t even get me started on their fashion like he giving us Crop Top Taemin including covering his TATTOO with a bandage 👀 It seems like a continuous of his ACT 1: “Criminal” album after he gets caught and bails out then shows up in a famous designers’ casino cafè (Sokcho City) in the meantime shown singing & dancing in heaven and hell (Angel & Demon) probably reference of being reborn and I wont be surprised if Koharu Sugawara had a hand in the choreography. Also, the arm move he does reminds me so much of his vibrating arm move he did in “FAMOUS” but it’s straight line in this MV. I love everything about IDEA, the lyrics, music, dance. 😍 I think Taemin outdid himself with Act 1&2. I normally like your reactions, but loving Chris Brown....Yes, it's your opinion, but I really can't understand you. I understand totally and I know that done people are very tight about him especially because of his actions. As an artist I love what he does but Chris has done demons he needs to face and confront them shed as many do. Yes IDEA is the other side of Taeminnie. I know most people like the dark pop side from him but I prefer the soft side 🤩 in songs like 2kids and think of you ❤ Luckily he always delivers 🌟 kpop king🌟
