I stumbled across your video while looking for ways to alter my mccalls 7598 pattern into more of what you are wearing. I'm so glad I did! Those pants are stunning, I would absolutely wear them too! I just found your channel with this video! I love this idea and your energy. thanks so much I am a kind of new sewer, i learned in highschool as a teen and some sewing threw the years but nothing really learning. now the kids are grown I have 1 autistic son and myself and clothes are harder to find for him (hes 32yrs old 6ft 4in and 260lbs) and he has touch sensitivity and i now need to make him clothes and myself as well(i have fibromyalgia and some clothes are just too tight and uncomfy). I so much love this fabric design anf the way you arranged it to gather, and the TAG ! I love that you showed off the tag! I have so much lefover pretty chiffon fabric from old cloths, i would love to do something with them, but its very thin and see through, and as a beginner i find chiffon really hard to see. Hi! We are the same age. ☺️ Sergers are totally optional and you can get a similar stitch on your regular sewing machine. Set it to zigzag with a wide stitch and then make the stitch length very short. You can then sew along the edge of the seam, letting the right side of the stitch go just over the edge. It will cover the seam very nicely and do a pretty good job of keeping the frayed edge clean. I suggest experimenting on scrap fabric first, until you get the look you want. Eventually, you can get a serger if you’d like. Mine is a basic Singer serger, I think it was $200 - you can check the video description for a link to the exact model. The advantage to a serger is that it’s the quickest and neatest way to finish seams. Plus it has a knife that can cut as you sew. But, kinda fancy and totally optional. Hope that helps!
