- mindset: 1. prep yourself for the final from the first class 2. imagine yourself succeeding at the end of the year (envision success) 3. forced/opportunistic mindset (i do have the choice/control to say: "i get to go to the class etc") - goals: 1. a system that constitutes your entire day (structure ur day) 2. when, where, how am i going to do x 3. u have to show up n dont go acc to ur feelings - proactive: 1. its a choice, so its a responsibility 2. go ahead of the syllabus 3. know what to do with your time, evn if its outside of college

I remember that time when I was walking back home and realised something , "You are in college to comprehend not just save informations ." it might seem so simple and logical, but it isn't until you actually understand it . I stopped and stayed for about 15 minutes thinking about it ( it was like the revelation of my life ) College is not like high school , you don't just study to pass to next year , you actually have to SEEK for knowledge . You don't just learn information to pass your finals. You actually learn the information and process it so you can work with it , when you understand that it becomes a bit, but in the end, it's way effective

As a student who keeps struggling to choose a department while my stress levels are killing my appetite to the point of excessive lost weight I am slowly trying to learn to be brave and actually listen to my own heart and instincts. Being this amount of indecisive led me to a loop hole of repeating anxiety and ignorance. I will take the university exam again this year while trying to transfer into the department of education. I am scared of the future but I will try to stay in motion and get over it while pursuing some professional help on this never ending problem. Please remember to take care of yourselves in these type of situations. Your health is far more important than any goal you may be pursuing. And please know what your true goal is, only then you can excitedly climb though your challenges. Because of people’s views I made the same mistake of choosing something unsuitable for me twice causing great distress to myself. So dear students or student to be enjoy what you pursue, have fun, make mistakes, make new goals and don’t be afraid to leave them if you are feeling it’s not for you. This is my goal for this year. Hope you guys will find yours too.

This is so helpful, ignore all the hateful comments below (wth). I struggle with deciding if I should choose what I want to do or go for something that gives me financial security. It’s hard. I think I should also listen to my heart and allah will surely provide for me. It’s going to be hard for me to make that decision as I have a lot of anxiety over the future. Anxiety can be very debilitating. I hope you nothing but the best in your career ♥️ may you find something that makes you content

The part about following your plan and not your feelings has to be the best tip of all time. Motivation comes and goes but discipline is what will get you where you want, it's better to work on your discipline and follow your plan than how you feel. And to be fair by the time you get your tasks done because discipline pushed you to do them, you will indeed feel happy and content. So it's not like your even beating yourself up your just doing what's right for you logically.

So true. This is something that took me a couple expensive mistakes to learn and I seriously regret it all... but I'm glad I at least learned before it was too late! 🥹🥹🥹 I think it was Tina Huang (another KZbinr + Data Scientist) who said in one of her videos that she adopted a "bias towards action" in the past when she was changing her academic/career goals. So, even when she wasn't sure where a certain opportunity would lead, she seized it and tried her best to be successful in it. This can be uncomfortable to do, but it is a helpful mindset - because a lot of people (definitely including myself) keep themselves stuck in one place because they can't see the specific purpose of what they're doing at a given moment and give up before assessing the potential for success and laying out a plan to make use of that potential. Sometimes, as long as it's not harmful to you or anyone else, you have to just trust the process and keep moving forward; you might be pleasantly surprised at where you end up! Even if you studied something that wasn't exactly what you wanted, you might be able to use it as a stepping stone into the things you truly care about. Each person's case is different, but it's something worth considering nonetheless.

Trust me, don't link your success or failure to a person being there in your life or not. My best sem in college was the one I had minimal friends in, and I am a VERY social person. I think you should first find your inner peace, set your own values and goals, and the right people around you will want to be around too

I loved this episode!! Brief notes: 1. Invision yourself being successful: This may even entail imagining yourself doing the exam, because the exam is ultimately associated with success. Envisioning this also ensure you avoid any fear or negative feelings during the exam, because not only does it calm you down, but it also takes you back to the study sessions in which you imagined yourself in the exam. Known the circumstances you will inevitably be in. 2. Forced vs opportunistic mindset: change your mindset from I have to, to I get to or I want to. 3. Goals: Dont construct goals, construct systems. e.g. between this prayer and that prayer I'm going to do x. Winners have systems, losers dont 4. Proactivity: go outside the syllabus, be proactive about your learning, actively put something in your day to contribute to your systems and goals.

I said to myself several times why should I keep going? That's not going to make any difference. I am muslim so I believe that really helped me not doing it actually but feeling like that..? I felt pain. Physical pain. From overthinking. I am having rough time literally every aspect of my life, but when you said "you get to" made me realize some stuff. I am really grateful that I actually listened you. I will be praying for everyone that needs it to night. Thank you.

Very admirable qualities. Adopting them could prove to be fruitful.
