"Ideas" lol that's right, stop asking questions, join the military and don't be one of those free thinkers! That's not a jab at the military either, I've got nothing but the utmost respect for those brave men and women, more so poking fun at the fact people from that era seemed to think it was literally the only option, especially for men. I'm glad people decided to do different things with their lives, it's a large reason there's been such huge advancements made in just about every field that exists, some that unintentionally have even helped the U.S. military too so a win win.

burt mustin was in every episode of every TV show ever made. it was an FCC by law. he was in westerns, sit coms, dramas, you name it. i remeber him in " all in the family ", when he and an elderly female friend ran off to elope because they couldn't survive financially while single. archie's head exploded. last week i saw him on adam 12 complaining about hippies.

I've heard of police academies using this show to show how police officers are supposed to behave. And proper police procedure concerning how to cuff and arrest suspects. Jack Webb had a winner with this one; and with Dragnet and Emergency as well.

True artifact of the age. Notice the "curb feeler" mounted on the front of the police car. Little known fact about Burt Mustin. He was one of the very first professional announcers on radio....he joined the staff of KDKA in Pittsburgh in 1921. He also sang with the Pittsburgh Opera Company.

I was able to keep my sanity until the end when old Bert turned hippie on us. Back when this program came out I was in my late teens. I had a little length to my hair and wore the attire the other kids was wearing. One day I did something my dad didn't like and he piped up and said "I'm tired of all you hippies with all your free love". I replies, free love? Where? I ain't found none of that yet.

When I was a kid in the sixty's my little brother was about 5 he went up to a hippie man with long hair and asked him Is you a girl or is you a guy. Till this day I thought that was the funniest thing he ever said as a kid. RIP little brother I miss you ☹️

Good old reliable Burt Mustin. He was one of the busiest character actors, appearing in hundreds of productions in his almost six-decade career. He had an appearance in almost every television show. He worked continuously right up to his death in 1977 at 92 years of age.

My grandpa had those on his car in the 1970's. He also would tie a red piece of material around the antenna of the car so he knew which car was his in a big parking lot. Those were some good days back then.
