I’m not going to lie, with an RRP of €799 / ~£685, but with a current introductory half-price offer making it €399 / £340, the Piguet & Son Astronomia X1 Gyro is not cheap. It’s definitely a luxury item. Let’s check it out to see if it’s worth it.

Well, it came from the same supplier as those cheap Ali-copies of the Fabre design. You can easily found the same online for less than 100€. ...and if you feel like it, you can also have the blueprints for a DIY gyro winder.

i like it but i am sorry it looks a little cheaply made for me and it winds 1 watch so for my collection i would need a few great review as always but even at 50% its overpriced

I'm glad to see a good review on this product. I didn't know it was usb as it didn't mention it anywhere and I didn't know it had times when it won't turn. I thought it would go continuously and you just had to turn it off. Also it's good to know that the dome is made of glass not plastic and that the motor is silent enough to not bother the video. I have a 7.75" inch wrist, so I'm glad that you mentioned the sizing of the holder. Luckily the watch I was thinking of using for this has a leather strap, but I'll keep in mind if I ever try to use this product with my metal bracelet watches.

yup i can make one of these,such an easy retrofit and I've got pleanty of winders to practice with . the price they are asking for this is really stupid

Thanks for convincing me not to buy this. I was on fence but you made me realized how overpriced it is. I know it is not cheap, or just simply put expensive. I always believe that the price is what you paid and value is what you get. This thingy isn’t worth the money. Sometimes there is a need for place like Ali express to exist just to give people a bit of perspective. European made are usually good in quality but the price to pay for that isn’t justified. Whoever design this product deserves some credit but one thing for sure is greedy. You can get a turbilion watch around $500 euro and it yield better value.

I'm not going to buy 30 watch winders so there is no point in owning one winder. If that makes sense.

To me, you complaining about the short time it rotates then stops for some time then starts up again is garbage just set it up before going to bed and let it do its job through the night.

I have the copy version and it is actually a quality item, plus the copy comes with a rubber gasket for the glass which seals the glass dome and eliminates that glass rattle sound yours made when you rotated it around at 3:39 , so really, the copy is a better item, don't waste your money on this overpriced version, get the copy, it's identical plus has a gasket

This product is a Chinese ripoff. I bought 2 and was really upset. Felt cheated. The customer service is pathetic. The quality is terrible. They said that for the price I paid, this is the best they can do. They claim that this quality, equals this price. Horrible lousy product. I do not think it’s hand made. The power supply died after 3 days. It felt cheap and made of cheap plastic.
