There are some people who frown on letting "robots" do all the work. My dad never learned CNC; he still makes all his custom parts on his manual Bridgeport. However, as an operator, I have always been fascinated with the artistry of programming. Though the closest I ever got to CNC was an Excellon PWB driller/router, there really is a lot of work involved in writing a program that makes exactly what you want in a timely fashion and without distorting the workpiece.
