It's funny watching this video 7 years later. These days Williamsburg is full of chain stores, tall glass condos, tourists, babies in strollers, clean-cut upper class buying into a manufactured prepackaged 'cool' neighborhood, all nice and sanitized for them. It's pricier than most parts of Manhattan. The gritty, underground bohemian culture that was so dominant from the early 90's - mid 2000's is long since dead. It's nearly unrecognizable. If a humorous video was made in today's Williamsburg, it would be the Yuppie Olympics rather than Hipster Olympics. I lived there from the early to mid 2000's, it was a wild and surreal place unlike any other. Such good times. But no neighborhood can stay frozen in time forever, especially in NYC.

No actually, in that far away era MySpace was still mainstream. This solidifies my realization that hipsters are as seemingly outdated (my poor way of saying no longer newly noteworthy) like being goth or emo...or scene. I wonder what's going to be the next notable subculture that will annoy the mainstream? A'kahnika Friesbie is what I'd imagine a hipster would name their child...and I'll assume that's already happened. I got to admit I kinda like the name.

They learned it from their parents who donate millions to low income housing in order to keep those people out for their neighborhood. They create spaces to only include themselves through pricing. Lol. Burger joint I went to had a burger and fries for 8$. Hipsters took over and made less and charged 15$ dollars for the burger and the fries for 5$. 20$ for all of that in 2005 or so!!
