Hiriluk may have been a quack, but he inspired Dalton to rise up against Wapol's tyranny and also inspired his son to be the best doctor in all the world. i know he will make that dream a reality one day.

This episode was the very first time One Piece had me BAWLING my eyes out I was absolutely losing it over Hiriluk's sacrifice

His sacrifice was hands down one of the most emotional deaths in the series. The man was in charge of his destiny. He wasn't going to succumb to a illness, a deadly medicine, or even an exuction. He was going out the way HE wanted to go out. But the real kicker, in the end it was all for Chopper. This was, Chopper wouldn't feel the guilt of the poison being responsible for his death, and not dying by Wapol's hand would spare Chopper the need for revenge and would have most likely ended with him recklessly dying. It's so unbelievabley sad, but so damn heart warming.
