The paper cranes bought tears to my eyes. Such a beautiful, sad and haunting story

Yes, it really stays with you doesn't it? Couldn't believe how small some of the cranes she made were too!

An absolutely beautiful city, 12 storey building by the a dome, great city views and make an origami crane which floats down the side of the building, definitely going back

I was there this year for the 71st anniversary of the bomb. It was a remarkable place, but the day was filled with messages of peace and hope for the future.

Wow, you're lucky to have been there then, great timing! It wasn't an easy place to visit but I'm glad we went.

I miss this place. I want to go back as soon as possible. After we went to the museum, it feels so heavy, so we went to a game center to feel happy again.

Those two places are pretty much polar opposites!

@@cakeswithfaces I won lots of chocolates and we had to call the staff to open up the machine for me to be able to get all my winnings. The chocolates filled the entire space where they drop down, it prevented me from opening the prize door since you have to push it in to open it, that is why we have to call the staff.

This year, I am visiting Hiroshima for this as I have never visited before, I don't believe so anyway!. I don't think I will take the bullet train, as I'm going as a family and it will be costly. Thank you for the video- although this was made 1 year ago! (I will go in August, when it's absolutely boiling).

What month were this and the Miyajima videos filmed?
@cakeswithfaces6 жыл бұрын
Ares Galamatis Early October. It was really warm, and quite humid on the days when it rained.
@aresgalamatis70226 жыл бұрын
That is very surprising! I mean that I could see some leaves turning colour occasionally in the videos, but the weather looked more like June, before the first typhoons hit. Last time I visited in 2015, I experienced a lot of humidity (like you guys) in Kyushu, when I entered the country in early October, but it gave way very quickly to drier and more comfortable conditions as I continued travelling eastwards stopping to Himeji, Kyoto and Kawaguchi lake, before moving north to Tohoku. Anyway, thanks for the information, I am planning to move for a couple of years there, and consider my options, since warm and humid weather is not my thing... after of course the all year long dreadful weather of SE England and N France :(

Ares Galamatis I know what you mean about the weather in England 😖 The summer seems to last longer in Japan. I really like early June too, it’s so warm and lovely right before the rainy season.

I went there for half a day which wasn't very long. We went to Hiroshima in the morning and Miyajima in the afternoon as a day trip from Kyoto. We only really saw the peace park and museum - there's also a castle and the rest of the city so you could spend a day there if you want to look round properly.

So is it fine to walk around on that town with no radio active exposing yourself?

Yes it's perfectly safe to visit now. People live there :-)

I went there this july - it was so sad to see all the pictures in the museum:-( but I think it was one of the most interesting places to visit in Japan. (By the way my sandals broke right when I got inside the museum! I had to use a band aid to keep them on for rest of the trip that day... )
@cakeswithfaces8 жыл бұрын
natasya786 Yes the museum's definitely full on - difficult to take it all in but I'm glad we went. Hope you didn't have too much walking to do the rest of the day! :-)
