He work with 3d models in letter to momo because studio production ig used 3d models mixed with 2d for that movie. www.easternkicks.com/reviews/a-letter-to-momo . And there were some untranslated Japanese interview where they talked about this. Also I didn't say this to insult him. He's work is still spectacular. He still animated them even if some of the scenes were 3d....

うろ覚えの知識だけど、たしか中学卒業でアニメアールスタジオの門を叩いてアニメ界に飛び込んで来たってきいた。 18歳くらいで飛影というロボットアニメの作画監督をやっていたそうな。

もうセル画の需要はないのだろうか。人狼でこの方の存在を知ったのだが、人狼の電車、水、人などの表現には当時驚かされたものだ。またこの動画を見て、多くの作品の印象に残るシーンにこの方が関係していたことを知ってこの方の能力がやはり突出したものだったということが分かって嬉しい。再度監督にチャレンジしてほしい。もちろんセル画で。

I'm just here to say the cut from 3:53 to 4:08 is ridiculous, especially the cut of the helicopter shooting the tower as the camera rotates around it because that looks so good it looks 3D

Okiura, Toshiyuki Inoue and Mitsuo Iso are like a holy trinity of animators for me. I don't think anything will ever compare to the movements these guys are capable of drawing! Though, if I was forced to pick a favorite, it'd be Okiura.

I don't know if he creates the character designs, but in the animes he has worked on, the characters always looks realistic. like real Asian people, not overexaggerated anime style. and their body language also feels real as well

He's the character design of Ghost in the Shell and other animes but he mainly does sakuga and screenplay. I guess his style suits realistic design the best.
