I have a question: What is your reasoning for taking so much time to farm out what amounts to essentially vanity items? I ask out of pure curiosity. I myself play world of warcraft more then the average person but the only thing that's ever really interested me is pursuing strength and skill in a pve enviorment, researching and practicing the perfect opener trying to get every last percentage of damage/survivability I can out of my preferred roles (Tank,dps). It's euphoric to watch my character climb the DPS meters or score a new parse or piece of gear. I've never been able to see the value in collecting mounts or transmog, so I just genuinely want your perspective. I want to know your why.

@@Oni-Joshu I think some people have completionist tendencies, other people feel a status effect from obtaining them, and some people just think they look cool. I’d also say not everyone is very interested in PvP or pve whereas farming mounts might interest/entertain them. I don’t collect mounts but I’ve definitely gotten a euphoric feeling from getting some.

@@Oni-Joshu What is your reasoning for not collecting mounts and other cosmetics? You do know that you are in a minority? Right? Some people only do just enough pvp to get extra mounts. Mount farming is more popular than either pvp or raiding because a lot of raiders and pvpers are mount collectors.

I've had mine since pre Cata patch and it is one of the mounts I see the least. I see Ashes of Alar all the time. Easily 3 or more in Org at any given time. The Barons Death Charger I will see once every 2 to 3 weeks.

Wraith had a special place in my heart for mounts. I had just started playing in end of burning and had just got my dk through the starting champaign and I landed out in the ford's and started questing. Well my guild leader turned out to be fishing for the turtle out there and told me about it. She had max fishing and had been at it for hours fishing the pools. Well me..a fresh dk with no fishing level, who had never casted a fishing line.. fished in the pool next to her. Got it on first cast. She flipped out for weeks till she got it later.

People understandably can not rationally fathom trillions. For context 1 million seconds is roughly 11 days. 1 billion seconds is over 30 years. You need 1 thousand billions for 1 trillion. By the above scale 1 trillion seconds is more than 30000 years.

Those of us who have been playing since 2006, winterspring frostsaber grind was the most painful grind ever (before they changed it to dailies) .. took me seven months of 8-12 hours grinding PER DAY. BRUTAL. Some days I would grind all day and all night for 2 or 3 days straight. That's the only mount I used for like 3 years because of that grind.

Nice video.. i sprung for a sapphire panther in MoP, there is hope to get it without going to the auction house.. if youre not a miner, you can, (or used to, in MoP) farm gems, from the rare elites bags in townlong.. Thats how i was able to acquire all the gems for that panther.. But the vendor costs sucked.. Had to match the glacial set, though

It's just called Yu'lei, Daughter of Jade, and not "Jade cloud Serpent" (btw, the other ones you mention should have "heavenly" in their names, otherwise you're just talking about the regular non-glowing ones).

Wait, nowadays you only need 15 badges of some new currency to get each faction PvP mount? I feel cheated, I remember grinding for hours and hours to get 50,000 honor points to get one single Black War Wolf. And now you can get a PvP mount by just doing 3 weekly PvP events for 5 tokens each? Edit: I also got the Venomhide Ravasaur as an on-level mage. The worst part was I could only play WoW every other weekend (thanks to shitty visitation time w/ my parent). So basically, I could only do about 6-8 of the ravasaur dailies per month, sometimes less depending what was going on IRL. One of the best feelings in my WoW career, honestly it felt almost as good as getting Ashes after a few months of farming on 3 different max/near max level alts (again, only every other weekend). Ditto with the netherwing drakes, only having every other weekend to do dailies and hunt desperately for eggs hoping that I could find enough to make the daily grind that much shorter. The cloud serpents weren't nearly as hard of a grind for whatever reason

Like most any loot based game, this one runs on Random Number Generation, what most of us long term gamers call RNG. The way RNG works, there aren't particular ways of achieving greater drop success by farming entire dungeons, nor farming the same 10-12 in a small area of the same dungeon. Also, typically, drops roll the table upon kill count, not when the npc is spawned. Can you imagine all the data that would need to be saved for each npc if that were the case??

I have to laugh, I played Everquest for a long time. There were camps that we had to kill for hours on end just to kill a named mob and hope it dropped an item. Sometimes we would camp there after 8 hours and come back the next day to do it all over again. Cry me a river about 4 hours of camping a mob.
