Jesus is my cover i been a widow for almost 20 years was married 34 years, and even before my husband went home with Jesus I always went to Jesus first in prayer seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and everything else will be added. when I was 37 i wanted to sing one song for JESUS at church but Jesus anointed me to sing and I would always pray and ask him to lead me to the song and he did I believe we are to go to JESUS first about everything in prayer and ask others to pray

The church that I used to go to believed in loyalty to the highest authority, the founder of the church. We were to listen to his messages all the time. You are to be “realized” before you can travel or visit another church… long story short, I'm glad I go to a different church now after serving there for 20 years. My focus is on the Lord all the time now and I'm reading my Bible and spending time in prayer now. I'm on the worship team at my new church now🙏🏽 Thank you, Kim! It's my hope and my prayer I get to come and worship at one of your event in the future😊

I see it as His anointing is our covering. The gifts and calling is without repentance is irrevocable but the level of anointing depends on being TRULY yielded to The Lord Jesus Christ. Depending on how yielded we remain, will increase or decrease the level of TRUE HOLY GHOST covering we walk in.

Kim, what comes to mind is the difference between the books of Judges and Kings. Samuel is in between of course and explains the difference. Samuel was in fact one of the "judges" or heroes God raised up to reestablish relationship with the people of Israel. God explained that He was their King when they cried out to Samuel "give us a King like all the other nations." God explained the problems they would have as a result but they insisted. I think this speaks to the reality that we are responsible for our relationship with the Father. It is a worldly strategy to ask someone else to be responsible for us and hence they step in between us and our Heavenly Father. In the 1980's I was in a church that practiced the shepherding doctrine, a false teaching to be sure. The results were disastrous to put it mildly. Fortunately God's grace is bigger than my mistakes.

Thank you for this. My story or experience is so similar. I was a worship pastor for 18 years at one church. The last pastor there said I had a jezebel spirit and I had to have permission to do women retreats or do or lead anything other than Sundays at church. I am out from under that! My husband and I are healing from this and in a healthy relationship with leaders in our new church. Your sharing your story is helping me!

I totally agree with you. Being faithful with what the Lord has given us and being a good steward does not mean we look for permission. Covering is prayer cover, accountability is very healthy but Jesus is over it all. We must be bold and step Into all that God has for us. We gotta own it. Keep going Kim you are empowering many!!!

Since you began these Thursday Thoughts, I have been so tracking with you!! Years ago, 2016 God called my husband and me to a start a new work on a technical college campus and He was firm about keeping it under His authority and covering and not putting it under the auspices of the church we attended. This was so hard because the church we were attending was exactly the way you described the church you were in in your twenties, and the Lord asked me who the covering of the early church was and when I said You were Lord, He said right! In my heart I knew we had to obey and keep it as a ministry parallel to our local church and not under it. We had loads of accountability so that was a plus, but the church we were in, tended to stifle and eventually affect ministries negatively that came under their leadership. Thank God the "covering" word and practice that has been used to control instead of free people is finally coming to light and being brought into balance! I am a lead pastor of a church now and I know that church leadership and shepherding is critical but not stifling, not making anyone feel like they need "permission" to obey Jesus and follow the Holy Spirit's leading!!! We often remind our congregation of this freedom! Be free in Jesus!

I could never understood why I was called rebel or challenging authority when we are just following the Holy Spirits guidance, If we tells us something how can we not do it. Thx for that mature word! I thought of the talents given out and God asking a servant what he did with his- Matthew 25: 15-25. God didn't ask the pastor what everyone did in the congregation; he asks individuals. Another thing I have found as a prophetic warring intercessor, is others do not understand my calling, so they do not know how to cover me. Their prayers for example might be general for me, and not specific for what I do in ministry. No blame/or blaming, just know now that I must do what the Spirit leads.

This is scary for me. When I was born again, I found a church. I was so zealous for Jesus, yet so ignorant & nieve to basically everything. I won't get into details, but within a couple years, I had been so hurt by ppl I thought I could trust & they didn't have my best interest at heart, but turned out to have major control issues & manipulated others to bend them to their will. I learned to guard my heart very early in my walk with Christ. And I've long since forgiven these ppl and moved on. I've now been a member of another church for 10 yrs & when you talked about being a good steward with the gift God gave me, I started to cry, cause although I was faithful to a gift He'd given me, I did complain about certain leaders who wouldn't allow my gift to flourish. But they needed a person with my gift & it was all God-ordained how it all happened. There were others who got jealous of the gift God gave me & tried to stop my gift from flourishing & for the most part, their jealousy prevailed. But I fully believe that gift served it's purpose for as long as God wanted it to. A family owns/leads the church & does all the preaching, teaching, worship. Others outside the family can clean the church (beautification) or serve food at events/funerals etc. But after covid, almost every member stopped attending. So my gift had no use at that church. I don't blame anyone for it, but I know it's time for me to move on. I love everyone so much, but I don't attend faithfully anymore. In fact I rarely attend. Mainly because I work a lot, but I believe this is another gift from the Lord.. to care for the elderly & sick. He moved me out of teaching asl interpretation to being a home health nurse. But I still feel like my other gift (teaching asl interpretation) can be used somewhere. It's just hard for me to trust ppl in the church now and the process of finding another church is difficult. I'm just praying for the Lord to lead me where He wants me. Thanks Kim, for your wisdom. God bless you & yours always.

If I'd waited for the church or man to give permission, agree, release, or see my needs, gifts, desires, or pains, I'd be stuck in suicidal depression and D.I.D! In 2012 God took hold of my life and re taught me, undoing and healing the damage churches and authorities have done. I have served within my church, faithfully for 10 yrs, but I live and breathe and come under the authority of One God, Jesus Christ, only. By His Spirit, He has taught me, re parented me, healed me, and called me to open a ministry house. Whilst the church and many Christians (my peers) still don't see me or my giftings, God has called me out! I'm stepping into it! I am and have always remained accountable. I've been faithful and never rebellious or belligerent to the leadership. (I love my church, despite their misunderstanding of who I am and what God's calling is on my life). I think so often leaders use that concept of being under a covering as a cloak for control and sometimes abuse. That is cult like behavior. I love your example of standing before the LORD and accounting for what He has called you to do. We shouldn't be saying "well, I was waiting for such and such to allow me to do that." It will be too late at that point to have done all of those things.
