I fully agree. I’m truly dreading giving up my sanctuary to live with someone else, even though that someone is a man I love. Why would I want to go from sleeping in my comfortable bed in silence with blackout curtains to a halved, uncomfortable bed with snoring and light pollution? 😢 I need my quality sleep in order to function optimally.

I used to say that the best thing for a marriage would be a duplex...one side for each partner. I'm thinking that this is an even better idea. Before my hubby passed we had separate bedrooms because he was ill and snored like crazy, and I still had to get up for work and needed to sleep! It worked really great for us, but there was always a "friend" who seemed devastated that we didn't sleep in the same bed every night! Our relationship was so wonderful, and I miss him every day.

My girlfriend had gotten sick for sometime and her husband was not able to get enough sleep for work so he ended up taking the guest room. After 14 1/2 years of this nonsense (my conditions), I finally convinced my husband to take to guest room. It's been wonderful for both of us. He gets a good night's rest and I don't have to worry that I'm keeping him awake all night with my constant shifting and noise making. I love the idea of this. My hubby, college aged kiddo, and I can have our own spaces. As she mentioned in the video, people have a man cave ( or a she shed), so why not just have separate tiny homes. I'd still want to sleep with my hubby every night and he agrees, but a separate space for guests would be nice. My parents are getting older so having another tiny house for them would give them independence while still being able to care for them. Until they'd move in it would make an awesome guest house.

After living in 350 sq ft, I had a glass room aka the sauna. It serves more as storage during construction on the main home, I insulated and darkened from the sun, then installed my A/C, my living space, when complete will be 630 sq ft. Buying this project was a necessity for a roof over my head. I also learned, by the tiny house rule of thumb, under 399 sq ft was NOT going to work for me and my STUFF! Furniture passed on from relatives, especially. I have my parents bedroom suite, big clunky traditional 70's stuff. I'm repurposing the armoire into a TV stand. Then nightstand, never fitting next to the bed will become an end table in the living space. Having fun making what I have useful, or making it so!!! (The water in the sunroom last night is not to be talked about here..... Another post!

You spend most of your life accumulating the stuff, and then it takes years to get rid of all of it, especially when you end up with belongings from other relatives who passed away. I could easily have 2 to 3 homes I have so much "treasure". I don't want to just chuck a lot of my stuff as a lot of it is pretty nice, so trying to sell or give away the best of it and it is taking much longer than I thought. My house looks like the back room at the Salvation Army.

I love the Mount Hood area!!! After 35 years together, my hubby & i would definitely need separate homes!!! (Plus 2 more rooms for all our projects!!!) My brother and sister-in-luv's live across the river in White Salmon.

This is just bloody brilliant - I reckon that every couple of any age who has the possibility of living separately but together should do it. It's incredibly beneficial to the relationship and one's individual mental well-being. I love this arrangement they've got going...

Wow now this couple has the right idea, they're actually paying less rent monthly for two tiny's then if they were to live in an apartment somewhere else. They're living the life and so they should. More power to them.🙏🏽😊

If that's "less" rent, then I sure as the world wouldn't want to live wherever they are! I have a beautiful two bedroom apartment in a sweet tiny city in the Midwest, live alone (after two disastrous "marriages"), and pay only 1/5 the rent they pay there. I don't have to take care of the outside, and if anything goes wrong inside, I call the maintenance crew and they take care of it. I do like that couple's idea, and I do like their homes, but not such terribly expensive rent!

@@jb6712 That's pretty much the national average, so I hope you're aware that you live in a rental market that's one of the most affordable in the country and enjoy having the extra spending money that most don't have.

I LOVE how different their houses are, each has so much personality. There's things I like about each, but overall I think I'd prefer to live in his house. I love his kitchen and the fact he basically has his own wine cellar 😂. I love that she has a dedicated creative space whilst he has a dedicated office space. If I got married I would love a set up like this.

This couple is quite happy, I love their attitude. Their homes are very nice, the man cave house has a sophisticated decor, the wall of artwork that separates the kitchen from the office is superb, love love love. I like their approach to make their homes practical, having a place to land when coming in and to store the clothes seems to lack in several tiny homes.

What an awesome idea!!! By the time someone is 'older' and has been living alone for several years, they're also fairly set in their ways and how they like things to be. You two have what I consider a perfect solution - a total WIN/WIN situation. Congratulations and many, many years of happiness together in your lovely homes.

This is so ideal for older folks getting together later in life. It's harder to combine when you're older. This would be ideal for me, but I would want our own property on adjacent lots that we own. I have concerns of moving into someone else's property... If he dies before me, would his offspring contest the homesite and me getting kicked to the curb. This way, I'd have my own house with no worries of being left homeless. Hopefully, we both live to be 100 and healthy.

This couple has the perfect solution to aging together. Both spaces are comfy and artistic. I liked how one of the houses can be used when there is company. I do think about aging in place and having a bed or recliner accessible if someone has surgery is something to consider. Just loved their houses, adventurous spirits, and location.

My husband and I have been married for 50 years, I can see where this would be beneficial. I have my hobbies and interests and my husband has his, but I'm organized and he IS NOT, so this makes it VERY difficult for me. I constantly feel pressured to try to keep him organized because he's constantly looking for things and accusing me of hiding it. I can't stand the mess. Separate BUT together would be perfect. Great idea.

Apart from having a bit more expenses, this double tiny for a couple looks close to perfect. Nobody has to sacrifice anything in terms of space, independence, design, hobbies and quirks. I suspect a much better set up for, like they say, mature couples, who have passed the lovey dovey stage in their relationships. Yet it allows them companionship and the closeness of someone they trust, and enjoy spending a lot of peaceful and quality time with. Another plus point is if one is a snorer, you can even sleep separately! Love both the tinys but am slightly more biased to the husband's space. Industrial and sleek yet feels mystical with his quirky collections, love it!

The ideal living setup is for each person to have their own self-contained space. Regardless of the situation.. conventional family, a couple...platonic or intimate relationship..we all , at some time need time to ourselves .... be it for a few hours or a few days. All relationships will benefit when that privacy is respected.

My mother and her partner have been together since 1989 and have both kept their own homes. They have travelled extensively together around the world and also within Australia in their caravan but they always go home at the end to their own places. And that’s why it has worked so well, she can decorate any way that she likes and he can do nothing as he doesn’t really care and it suits them both. He travels down every Tuesday for dinner and stays the night and also Saturday night and all of Sunday. I know at least for my mum, it’s the only way to do it. You still both have your own space and they are both fit and well and in their 80’s now but the routine is always the same, and he is a very loved member of our family, as mum is within his as they have been together for so long. I personally think that it’s the only way to be with someone without going insane. Well done, great idea!
