For an older couple coming together I think this is the ideal situation to maintain a happy relationship. My girlfriend had gotten sick for sometime and her husband was not able to get enough sleep for work so he ended up taking the guest room. It worked out so great for them that when they moved they selected a house where they would both have a really nice separate bedroom. Seems to be working out great for them.

My husband and I have separate bedrooms. I'm a chronic pain sufferer and am constantly struggling to get comfortable. After 14 1/2 years of this nonsense (my conditions), I finally convinced my husband to take to guest room. It's been wonderful for both of us. He gets a good night's rest and I don't have to worry that I'm keeping him awake all night with my constant shifting and noise making. Plus he snores louder than 80 lumberjacks sawing wood at train depot! 😂

There's a video here on YT that shows that very thing. A family has built a compound where each of their teenage children have their own tiny. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of it, but if one looks it up on the YT search engine, it should be easy enough to find it.

I love the idea of this. My hubby, college aged kiddo, and I can have our own spaces. As she mentioned in the video, people have a man cave ( or a she shed), so why not just have separate tiny homes. I'd still want to sleep with my hubby every night and he agrees, but a separate space for guests would be nice. My parents are getting older so having another tiny house for them would give them independence while still being able to care for them. Until they'd move in it would make an awesome guest house.

Apart from having a bit more expenses, this double tiny for a couple looks close to perfect. Nobody has to sacrifice anything in terms of space, independence, design, hobbies and quirks. I suspect a much better set up for, like they say, mature couples, who have passed the lovey dovey stage in their relationships. Yet it allows them companionship and the closeness of someone they trust, and enjoy spending a lot of peaceful and quality time with. Another plus point is if one is a snorer, you can even sleep separately! Love both the tinys but am slightly more biased to the husband's space. Industrial and sleek yet feels mystical with his quirky collections, love it!

I love his tiny house ! I cried it’s so beautiful. I fell in love with tiny houses in 2010. I had become disabled and I had to give up my career. I was very depressed so my husband brought an iPad home to me one day. I found youtube and tiny homes. It’s changed my life. It gave me hope. We did purchase a property 12 acres and converted a shed cabin. But we don’t live in it. We settled in a very small country town in a typical 3 bed 2 baths after selling our big suburban home. Currently we are transforming our back yard. It’s completely tropical. Big pool with a deck. A hot tub deck. Soon the back porch will be a sunroom. And the carport will be enclosed it will be huge office for my husband. I’m not sure if we will stay here. Although I love the things my husband has built. We might move to Florida where our youngest lives. If we do that we will sale both properties and give that a try. But honestly I’m comfortable. And if we lived in the shed cabin I would be happy there too. Life is a journey. Enjoy where you are on that journey. Thank you so much for sharing! Leslye

Love how lived-in this feels! Sometimes tiny home reveals feel like they've been made for a magazine, with elements that are entirely impractical. I just love how they've incorporated drop zones into the design, realising that you DO need convenient surfaces/areas to put/hang things you use often. Love both of these homes!

I could have never imagined how the husband's tiny home would be on the inside but it was beautifully appointed with his works of art and collectibles that he valued. I loved his choice of design of the space and also how he organized the kitchen and bathroom. The office table was so unique and he thought of everything he wanted to feel he had enough space to live in and still connect with his wife/partner. As a woman myself, I assumed I would have been more attracted to the way a women's decor, design, colors and functionality would be but I found her space too cluttered and I didn't like the open stairs to the loft. The husband's house was way more attractive, functional and style of what I would love for myself. They both had their own styles and instead of compromising and giving up what they love, I see their situation a perfect solution. They are connected, have what they each love and the style they want. Also to my big surprise, the husband's Tony house was way more organized and really neat and tidy, especially the kitchens. This is the perfect couple enjoying their lives together separately with room to breathe and keep their individual styles. I would definitely do this and have a separate tiny house next to one another with my husband if we ever considered tiny house living. I also think married couples who are retired need their own space to do their hobbies and have a place to call their own. They can spend as much or as little time as they want.

I LOVE THIS!!! We've been married almost 42 years, and I've always thought how nice it would be to live next door to each other. I already have my own digs designed. I told my hub I could design his too, but, for some reason, he gets offended that I'd rather be married neighbors. LOL!! What a dream come true!

I live in a normal 3 bedroom home with my husband and we both have hobbies so we each took a bedroom and turned it into our own space. It works out well because he suddenly and unexpectedly took retirement 4 years early when Covid hit the world. It essentially a total shock with no time to plan how our living together 24/7 was going to be. Having a place to enjoy reading, creating and working is important so I can absolutely agree with this couple that each maintaining separate living space works so well. I believe it's essential for couples to define their own style and space without feeling they are giving up what's important to them. This is a great choice for retired couples yet still be together any time they want to. A very healthy relationship to keep their marriage healthy and happy.

I love his home they're both nice but his aesthetic is what I would go for, love how kitchen and the under bed nook. Deffo best of both worlds, they pretty much still live together but get to express their own aesthetic and do it up how they want to. They can stay at each others, but when they just want some alone time, they can do.
